d_squared431 0 #7 July 30, 2006 I love living close to Lake Tahoe. You couldn't ask for more beautiful sunrises or sunsets. When your on the boat and looking up at the mountains in the middle of summer and they still have snow the tops of them it is breath taking. selbbub78 0 #9 July 31, 2006 Although I just love water. I must say I fell in love with the ocean when I was in college on my research cruise. There's just something about the fresh salty smell the ocean has... matt1215 0 #10 July 31, 2006 I'm a big fan of the ocean. I spent my first 25 years in Huntington Beach. Now I'm stationed in Florida and the building I work in overlooks the Atlantic.
sartre 0 #11 July 31, 2006 I was 19 the first time I saw the ocean. It was love at first sight. I am not a good swimmer in the ocean, but I could play in the waves all day. (And do, every time I get the opportunity). All I require of a vacation is sun, sand, ocean.
tri160 1 #12 July 31, 2006 Ah, to be surfing a 2nd light right across from your building. I grew up right there and surfed Cocoa Beach an average of3-4 days week for 15 years. God I miss it.
RkyMtnHigh 0 #13 July 31, 2006 I say Ocean as well... Skydiving beach jumps are awesome! Sebastian's Keys Boogie in early November has beach jumps at Sombrero Beach and from alti you get to see the narrow strip of land with the Gulf of Mexico on one side and Atlantic on the other...Amazing scenery! At Emerald Coast Memorial Day weekend Beach Boogie, you jump into the beach over the Gulf of Mexico...Both events, you have an amazing view of the water in beautiful shades of blues and greens...*goosebumps* Other than that...I haven't spent much time on Lakes so I can't speak much about the scenery or texture/color of the sand...just know that I like the ocean. _________________________________________

MF42 0 #15 July 31, 2006 I voted lake just because the oceans are so damn far away, and the lake is right here. Matt
PRSKY71 0 #16 July 31, 2006 I dig any body of water 'cause I find it all very peaceful. However, I voted ocean for the mere impressiveness of it! There's nothing like sitting at the beach w/o the typical crowds and realize how tiny we are in the scheme of things. It's very humbling. Shotgun 1 #19 July 31, 2006 That's a difficult question... I've spent a lot of time playing in some beautiful Texas lakes (especially Lake LBJ and Lake Travis), and I love the calmer lake water for playing on jet skis and kneeboards, kayaking, floating around in the sun, whatever... And I'm not too fond of saltwater for swimming in, but the ocean is beautiful for other reasons: some amazing creatures living in there, and it's much more vast and adventurous than a lake. (So far, I've only been sailing on lakes--which is really fun--but I suspect that the ocean would be even more fun for that.) Hmm, I can't say that either one is better. skymama 37 #20 July 31, 2006 Quote I love the ocean. But untimately I would love to live on the side of a lake in the mountains. I'm with you. We just came back from a vacation in the NC mountains. My son and I were canoeing in a lake that sits below Bald Mountain. It was beautiful and so peaceful. Well, that is until the kid's camp that shares the same lake had their closing ceremonies for the week and we heard them singing "Kumbaya". PLFXpert 0 #22 July 31, 2006 Billy wants to be on a lake. I love oceanfront. We're compromising on the 2nd home and building on the intracoastal. But really, as long as I'm on or near a big body of water, I'm happy.Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back. Muenkel 0 #23 July 31, 2006 I honestly have to pick both. I grew up not far from the ocean that I think I took it for granted. Now, I'm a couple hours away. Lakes are plentiful where I live now and they have their own beauty. Chris _________________________________________ Chris
PLFXpert 0 #24 July 31, 2006 Lakes are definitely beautiful. It's weird for me, but the thing I like/prefer about the ocean, other than waves crashing, is I'm not "locked in". I like the idea that the intracoastal empties out into the big, open blue. A lake just feels more claustrophobic to me. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.
