k_marr08 0 #26 July 31, 2006 sand and waves - need I say more?? I could go to the beach half the week and the dz the other half and never get bored."I believe the risks I take are justified by the sheer love of the life I lead" - Charles Lindbergh
Muenkel 0 #27 July 31, 2006 QuoteLakes are definitely beautiful. It's weird for me, but the thing I like/prefer about the ocean, other than waves crashing, is I'm not "locked in". I like the idea that the intracoastal empties out into the big, open blue. A lake just feels more claustrophobic to me. I hear ya Carrie. As a kid, my family had a vacation home on Montauk Point (Long Island). I used to love looking out on the Atlantic knowing the next land mass was Europe. PLFXpert 0 #28 July 31, 2006 I'm a true split-personality....I'm super-social, fun, friendly when I'm in the mood and in that environment. But, I highly value my space, privacy, me-time and alone time with just Billy. It's weird---I'm the most reliable person/friend you'll ever know but I hate feeling like I'm "relied upon" for something. The ocean is part of the latter side of me. I feel like I'm not trapped into something. It's free. I LOVE the ocean and all its possibilities and unpredictablity. It's more me than a lake. But again, a lake has a lot to offer, as well---especially a big one you can't see across.Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.
jceman 1 #29 July 31, 2006 I like both but voted for lake because of all the hassles I have when swimming in the ocean; every time I come ashore there is someone form Grrenpeace or some group throwing water over me and trying to push me back into the water. Faster horses, younger women, older whiskey, more money. Why do they call it "Tourist Season" if we can't shoot them?
livendive 8 #30 July 31, 2006 Lakes are fun to go cool off in during a hot summer day, to go wakeboarding, to drink-fish, and to camp near, but the ocean is so much more. My dream retirement would include sailing the world for at least a few years. Blues, Dave"I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!" gmittar 0 #31 August 1, 2006 I love lakes! I'm not a big fan of saltwater or sand, and grew up hanging out in freshwater. |>.<| Seriously, W.T.F. mate?
