eeneR 3 #1 July 7, 2006 When you get feelings about something going on, job wise, personal life, someone elses intentions....Does it seem that your intuition is right or does it seem more that you are just over reacting? Example, you interview for a job, you get a good feeling....or you get a bad feeling? How often are these feelings right? How much of this is actually conditioned into us as humans both by others and by life experience? I refuse to use the term "vibes." I also refuse to give them out, particularly over the internet. But anyway, most times, my gut feeling is good. But there are have a few times when something bad turned out really good and vice versaWhy yes, my license number is a palindrome. Thank you for noticing. I am very good at this...in all aspects of my life...it tends to drive me crazy because I tend to try and "fix" things when I get that "feeling" as though something ain't quite right. I am very good at "reading" people...its tiring though....trust me when I say, by no means am I bragging about this "ability" BobbiA miracle is not defined by an event. SpeedRacer 1 #9 July 7, 2006 QuoteExample, you interview for a job, you get a good feeling....or you get a bad feeling? How often are these feelings right? I find that people tend to remember the times when their intuition was correct, but conveniently forget the times when their intuition was wrong. Ever worry that something was going to happen, then later find out you had nothing to worry about after all? your intuition was wrong. Intuition can be affected by predjudice, personal insecurity, mood, or any number of other things. That is exactly it...how the hell do we know when it is true intuition or if it is being affected by other outside sources....damn emotions and feelings, and what you want vs what you need or what is best for ya! SpeedRacer 1 #11 July 7, 2006 Here's an example of intuition gone wrong: One summer evening back when I was in college, my brother Mike, my friend Tom and I walked downtown to the local convenience store to buy some munchies. After we bought our stuff, my brother & I walked out & Tom stayed in the store to talk to the guy at the checkout counter (he knew him). While my brother & I were waiting outside for Tom, a car drove by, slowed down, and the driver glared at us suspiciously & said, "Don't try it!" Then he circled the block & drove real slow past the store to glare at us again! His intuition had told him that we were going to rob the store! Icon134 0 #12 July 7, 2006 I think generally my intuition is generally pretty good... sometimes I don't like the outcome I forsee...although generally I do think that "attitude" plays a big part in the outcome as well... MF42 0 #13 July 7, 2006 My first impressions of people are almost always incorrect. I've learned to usually not even attempt to guess what a person's motivations or plans are at any given moment because I always get it wrong. People are such a mystery. On the other hand, intuitively skipping a step or two when troubleshooting some malfunctioning machine is always fun, and I'm usually right. Nightingale 0 #14 July 7, 2006 I believe intuition is information that our subconscious is recognizing and assimilating, but that it's too subtle for the conscious mind to put together. You're combining little signals and details you're picking up, and your subconscious is telling you to be cautious because of them. It's got nothing to do with being psychic, and everything to do with assimilating current details and comparing them with past experiences. Everyone I know who's been attacked by a stranger, including myself, had that little prickle on the back of your neck that tells you something is wrong. They, and I, rationalized it and ignored it. That is not a mistake that will be repeated. If I get that feeling again, I run and get myself away from the place and the situation. Worst case, I look a little silly. Best case, I've saved my life. Nightingale 0 #18 July 8, 2006 QuoteThat is very well put kris... Thanks. When I used to teach self defense seminars, we'd spend the first hour or so talking about how to avoid trouble in the first place, and talking about intuition is a big part of that. Usually if you're scared, you're scared for a reason, whether or not that reason is immediately recognizable to your logical mind.
