skytash 0 #26 August 2, 2006 I could pay someone to pack for me, however there is no way I could pay someone to have greater peripheral vision as I'm aproaching a formation and don't quite spot the other person also approaching who I might just bump into. As I didn't get my act together this year to exercise my right to vote for council I don't feel I have a right to criticise the BPA this year, so I won't add my personal gripes here. In their defence a lot of the rules the BPA has were put in place as a result of particular incident findings. The idea of the rule was that someone new to the sport can inform themselves about the potential increase in risk and make an informed decision. Also in the those days there was less travelling and communication across different jurisdictions, so jumpers approached other British jumpers about the rules rather than comparing them others. I look forward to seeing your name on the ballot papers for the next council vote as you obviously want to get things changed and it's only from there that you'll be able to do so! tashDon't ever save anything for a special occasion. shropshire 0 #27 August 2, 2006 That's a good point... but Andy has great awareness... I've got him on video with Billy & myself and his head is swiveling like a scene on the omen... constantly checking where we all are.... Now I now that not everyone is the same and the rules need to be written for the lowest common denominator... shame. Now, if only we could get him off that tandem sized canopy . (.)Y(.) skytash 0 #28 August 2, 2006 I have actually known instances were CCIs have made a judgement from experience with individuals who are above the lowest common denominator and granted exemptions to certain rules. Off the top of my head the ones I have heard about were people being allowed to jump a full face helmet in one instance and a pin-pull rig in the other when technically they weren't supposed to. I guess in both those instances if there had been an incident/ problem it would could have had consequences for the CCI. tashDon't ever save anything for a special occasion. champu 1 #29 August 2, 2006 Quotespeculation, but still something to think about. I've never worn a full face, i like the wind in my face feeling, its part of the relaxation for me. oh what fun it is when i pop my goggles on top of my helmet and forget them there! .. *why do i feel so much wind in my eyes? ... ohhhhhh* I'm also a fan of the "wind in the face feeling" but when doing 4-way I try and borrow a full face helmet because I don't like the "shins in my face feeling"
pincheck 0 #30 August 2, 2006 going to burst your bubble Andy you actually do need to know how to pack. Your own kit at least and if you dont have a F111 approved packing cert which is signed by instructor/rigger and stamped by the BPA who has tested you, you wont be allowed to pack your own gear or anything else. each time you come across one you haven't done before container/main or deployments system you can get an instructor/rigger/advanced packer to show you and watch you, you will be cleared to pack it. i only have clearance for my gear which is fine by me but in the future i will get others signed off. you already know my thoughts on fullface anyway you Billy-Sonic Haggis Flickr-Fun
