Should I pay 45-50$ to see Bob Dylan?

Recommended Posts

absolutely - im not even a huge dylan fan but i would pay $50 to see him - he is a legend and unfortunately the baby boomers arent gettin any younger - i'd go just to at least say you saw him - who knows it might actually be a great concert too :)

I saw Bob Dylan in the Summer of 1986. He did a concert tour with Tom Petty and the Grateful Dead.

That ROCKED!! unfortunately it was also during the Great Marijuana Famine of 1986.

Ronald Reagen had started Operation Glass Eye which cracked down on drugs, but mostly focused on marijuana, so the drug dealers switched to cocaine and crack cocaine as a more monetarily concentrated drug. Marijuana became very scarce, but coke & crack were everywhere.

The little plant I grew in the meadow near the highway was all that got us through those dark times.:)

Yes, you should go for it.
In the near future you probably wont remember what you paid, but you'll always remember seeing him.

Well Though I’m no baby boomer, I grew up listening to my fathers records and I’ve also seen Dylan a few times in my young life.

But um yeah I guess I’d pay $50 to see his show; however I wouldn’t expect a great concert. I think the best Dylan shown I’ve seen was in Austin, 1992, I was 15 or 16 it was the whole packaged spectacle and also my first Dylan show. The few I’ve seen since were lame/mediocre at best. But yeah if Dylan was coming through Texas I would be there for 50 bucks, why not.

The great drought of '86. I remember it as if were yesterday. Went to a few concerts sober .:( It was terrible.

The great weed famine of 1969 (Nixon's Operation Intercept) was worse. BUT we had Orange Sunshine LSD !

As for seeing Dylan, the $50 price tag isn't bad by today's standards ($250+ for the Rolling Snots, $22 for a decent skydive...). There is only ONE Bob Dylan. And his band is absolutley fantastic, some of the best musicians I've ever seen. Dylan may be 63 (or somethin' like that), but you'd never know it. You'll be glad you went.

Definitely.

Unless you'd rather stand up for the cause that tickets are getting too expensive and miss Dylan and all the fun. I'm sure your message would get across.

;)

P.S. It wouldn't bother me to miss Dylan, but I've paid twice that (or maybe more) to see other faves and get the best seats.:P It sucks until you get there and then the $$$ no longer matters.:P
Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.

I saw Bob Dylan at Lake Compounce in Connecticut in 1989 or 1990. It was a really good show. $50 won't disappoint you. ;)

I wouldn't even entertain the idea of going and spending my hard earned money on a "has been" washed up convict used to be C&W singer. His voice ant that stuoid harmonica are like nine inch nails being drug down a chak board,

Actually, I agree with him. I saw Bob Dylan in 2003, and he was falling-down drunk the entire concert. They had to crank up the amps for the rest of the band to drown out his harmonica. Definitely not worth it.

If you can rent or borrow the Martin Scorsese documentary "No Direction Home" that aired on PBS a while ago watch it and then decide.

I'm an old bastard that decided not to go and see Dylan when he was in my city a few years ago and since watching that documentary I greatly regret it. It may be because I was a teenager when Dylan first hit the scene but it gave me a great appreciation for the influence he had on music.

However....I do have a ticket to see the Stones in Regina SK on October 6th...12th row!!!! I hope it isn't snowing;)

I watched that documentary just to see if he talks like he sings (he does!). I couldn't take my eyes off of it. I was watching and trying to talk like him the whole rest of the show!:D:D

Hell yeah. I've seen him 4 times in the last 2 years. It's been worth it everytime and I've gone through some stuff to get the tickets.

These minor league baseball field shows are unreal. This is the second year he's doing them. Two years ago he played all small arenas. Saw him at the Troc in Philly. Some shows are better than others but he's a good act and the other bands always rock too.

I'm going to the August 23rd concert in Reading PA. Go to that one too :)

I would only if it's in a small place (as not in a large stadium, expo-center, etc)
I've seen Bob Dylan (1977) for ~$8.75-$12) was alot back then actually.
Also, last week got tickets for a dinner concert show w/Cyndi Lauper ($55 ticket, dinner extra) and I know I will have a great time there, plus great dinner (The Canyon Club, Calabassas, Ca!
Just have to add, while I'm here on this subject.
Saw Robin Trower last week, small place VIP seats at floor level at table (missed dinner but had veggie & dip), friend of mine paid for it, then met Robin Trower outside afterwards.
Seeing Alice Cooper same place 8-17 (Ventura Theatre)
Tonight is Charlie Daniels at the Fair.
Monday is Wynonna at the Fair.
The End.

My 17 year old daughter would give three times that much to see him! She LOVES Bob Dylan. She has his posters up in her room as if he were a teen idol. Has all his books and CD's etc. I don't get it but there ya go.
Pay the money and go see him. Money is just money but you can never gain the experience again no matter what you pay.
