CSpenceFLY 1 #1 August 3, 2006 See how many Skyride ads you can find in the Google ads. I was told by someone from Skyride that they were changing the way they do business. If you click on the Skydiving Georgia ad it takes you to a site for the Georgia Skydiving Center(use to be in Rome Ga) go to the directions. They appear to be taking you to Rome...but they are not.You guessed it they are taking you to Atlanta Skydiving Center(ASC).Now these are not the same directions they give everyone else to ASC.Why do you think that is?Looks like business as usual at Skyride/ASC. . Airman1270 0 #5 August 3, 2006 By the way, I stopped at a traffic light last week and there weren't any "1-800-SKYDIVE" stickers on any of the nearby signs or fences. Perhaps they have a hotline where people can report such incidents so they can be quickly corrected? Cheers, Jon S.

jtval 0 #7 August 3, 2006 1-800-skydive is legit. its an easy number for customers to remember so they can call. DZO's sign up to have the nubmer foward those calls to their phones when called from the local area.My photos My Videos
brianfry713 0 #8 August 3, 2006 Just be sure to remember where your cell phone is based out of in case you've moved. 1-800-SKYDIVE might get you a different DZ than the local one.

Lindercles 0 #11 August 3, 2006 That's weird, because whenever you leave your home zip code you have to dial the zip even when calling back to your home zip code. So in that case it's the tower that determines how your call gets routed.

brianfry713 0 #13 August 4, 2006 I think you mean area code, not zip code. I just always dial the area code on my cell phone no matter where I am or where I'm calling, I find it's easier than trying to remember when I have to dial the area code. As for 1-800-SKYDIVE, if I'm in northern CA, I get Skydance, but in southern CA, it's Perris. So whenever I call from a SoCal based cell, even if I'm in NorCal, it goes to Perris, so I have to dial the 1-530 # if I want to call Skydance on a SoCal cell.BASE 1224, Senior Parachute Rigger, CPL ASEL IA, AGI, IGI USPA Coach & UPT Tandem Instructor, PRO, Altimaster Field Support Representative

chaoskitty 0 #15 August 4, 2006 Quote800 Skydive isn't the same as Skyride. It is, in Georgia, Tennessee, and Alabama. But if I'm in Austin, I get Skydive San Marcos, assuming I am dialing from a local phone. Thats cool because they answer the phone and say "Skydive San Marcos", which is a real drop zone. Working at a DZ, I get calls from people all over the country dialing 1-800-Skydive from their local cell phones, so I'm pretty sure it's by the number, rather than the call location. littleskycrab 0 #17 August 4, 2006 Actually in Georgia 1-800-skydive was the # to Skydive Monroe. However, I just called it and now get some strange message directing me to 1800skydive.com. Hmmmm............. lets see where that takes me............... Interesting. It takes me to a map of the US. If you click on Ga, it takes you to Monroes site and tells you that it is now closed, but click anywhere else and guess who you get.................SKYRIDE/ASC. (ok, I clicked around a bit and can get to some legit DZs, but it is still disturbing) I wondered how long it would take them to get their mits on it. Next time a sunrise steals your breath or a meadow of flowers leaves you speechless, remain that way. Say nothing and listen as heaven whispers, "Do you like it? I did it just for you." howardwhite 6 #19 August 4, 2006 Quote1-800-skydive is legit. its an easy number for customers to remember so they can call. It's also a web site: www.1800skydive.com That gives you a map of what DZ(s) you'll get in your area, which may include several DZs in several states. In New England, you'll get to a site that includes Skydive New England and its satellite Jump 'n Raft operation in Maine, Jumptown in Mass., and Fun Skydiving in Conn.
