chaoskitty 0 #30 August 1, 2006 Quote There is a huge difference between being supportive and looking out for the other persons best interest vs. being condescending and belittling all the time. I totally agree with this. Plus, nothing effective ever came from being condescending.

chaoskitty 0 #37 August 1, 2006 Quote So if I tell you that you can be very judgmental at times.. Am I standing up to you or Being judgmental myself?? If you're just making a blanket statement, then you're being judgemental. If you're hurt or upset about something I've done to you or someone else and you stand up to me, then you've got balls. But really you're just trying to be a smartass arent you??

Icon134 0 #44 August 1, 2006 I have balls but I'm not sure that's what it takes to do what you're talking about... one of the biggest problems with standing up to someone... is that often there isn't a clear "right" and "wrong" in the world...Livin' on the Edge... sleeping with my rigger's wife... Rebecca 0 #47 August 1, 2006 I think right and wrong actually CAN be black and white when evaluated based on the impact, not the action itself. (I do know what you meant in terms of judging the action or the person - often clear as mud...) If through your actions, well-intentioned or utterly inconsiderate, you hurt yourself or someone else, you did it wrong. That's called a mistake. The only sure-fire antidote to mistakes is the following basic process: 1.) Accept that you're gonna make 'em even if you try your best not to, 2.) Get over yourself and your pride enough to face 'em, and 3.) Learn how the chain of events got you there so you can recognize and avoid the same thing in the future. Surrounding yourself with caring honest friends helps with all 3 steps. All of the above takes balls/ moxie/ chutzpah, AND humility. you've got to ask yourself one question: 'Do I feel loquacious?' -- well do you, punk? lawrocket 3 #50 August 1, 2006 to stand up to someone when they are wrong is: Something that people should do more often. Look at this sport - it could save a life. It actually could save several lives... My wife is hotter than your wife.
