freelyflyn71 0 #8 August 9, 2006 Does military time count? If not, I was on my own after a nasty divorce, and was in a really nice "6 person tent" for around 3 weeks...not too bad, however, it was during a really cool October month! happythoughts 0 #9 August 9, 2006 We had a guy who lived in a cardboard refrig box in a field near the job site. A piece of plastic thrown over it and a sleeping bag. One day he was late, so we walked over to wake him up. There was a woman in there with him.
lawrocket 3 #10 August 9, 2006 Yes. Thank you Uncle Sam. But I've pitched more tents than I have lived in. My wife is hotter than your wife.

Zing 2 #13 August 9, 2006 Lived in "the coffin for about six months at Ghoulide while the wreck hall was being "renovated." It was a tarp over the top of a home made camper shell I kept after selling the truck for fun coupons.Zing Lurks
karenmeal 0 #14 August 9, 2006 I lived in a tent for a number of months in Davis, CA. It wasn't too bad. It would be hard to go back to that now. "Life is a temporary victory over the causes which induce death." - Sylvester Graham
Jaden 0 #15 August 9, 2006 I have a long term camping trip planned. I'm scared but I'm psyched. No distractions, just survival. I am sure it will be interesting, if nothing else. Sometimes you have to take a chance.
jheadley 0 #16 August 9, 2006 I lived in one for 3 months at Z hills during the winter and then 3 months in Pennsylvania during the summer. It was ok until Pennsylvania had the week long period of rain and severe flooding. Also thunderstorms aren't much fun either if you live in a tent. If I had to do it again, I'd make sure I had a tent that was much much more sturdy and waterproof than the wal-mart ones.
BillyVance 35 #17 August 9, 2006 QuoteLived in a tent...? not just for a boogie or weekend at a dz you're visiting? I'm okay with it ...just like camping long term...*shrug* I lived in one for 6 weeks. Granted, it was a youth expedition around the perimeter of the state of New Jersey back in 1984 when I was 17. Hiking on the Appalachian Trail, canoeing down the Delaware River (you don't wanna know what we saw in the water through Philly ), biking across southern NJ, sailing up the coast to Newark, and biking back to base camp near the northernmost point of the state."Mediocre people don't like high achievers, and high achievers don't like mediocre people." - SIX TIME National Champion coach Nick Saban
skybytch 273 #18 August 9, 2006 Yup. Spent October through New Year's in one at Perris. I wouldn't mind doing it again, but only at a much warmer time of year.

Joe Out of curiosity I looked up yurts. Damn they are cool. I could live in something like that for awhile I think. ACMESkydiver 0 #23 August 9, 2006 My mom, dad, bro, and sis did when the inaugural day storm of '92 destroyed their house. I was away training in the army, and was strangely enough, living in a tent too...in the woods of South Carolina/Georgia. None of us liked it so much. ~Jaye Do not believe that possibly you can escape the reward of your action.

skydiver30960 0 #25 August 9, 2006 Is this at a DZ? Like, where you'll have access to a hot shower and an extension cord for your hotplate and maybe even a TV in the hangar to crash out in front of once in a while? A person can get by for a long time on Ramen noodles and Tang... (note I said Tang, not 'tang. Although a little 'tang once in a while is bound to make tent living easier) Now that I'm in a "committed relationship" (yeesh) it'd never work, I'm sure we'd kill each other. But in my salad days I woulda been all over it. The only reason I probably never did it was that most of my salad days were spent living in rural Kentucky, where my one bedroom apartment was damn near as cheap as living in a tent anywhere else in the world!
