What? You said you are vegan part of the time. Look. Just accept that you made a mistake and we can move on to your next mistake.

I edited and added.

No mistake to admit was made. You logic is preposterous.

My dog's food is is mostly vegetables & rice, but has salmon. ]

I can see wild dogs stalking down carrots and rice right now! where is the guy from the far side cartoons when you need him?

I have many vegan friends that have become breeders and make thier children eat vegan as well, I am not sure how I feel about that other then I don't think it is a good idea or should I say is not a choice that i would make. the arguemnet could go either way and reach no end other then to agree to disagree I guess.

I like for my dog to get the food that it should have as if where in the wild, after all she is an animal and would prefer to live in a den with her pack then the bed we offer her in our home. she plays with dogs and is a dog it's that simple, left to her devices she would hunt and eat meat, not rice or veggies.
having said that I am also glad that we have science and can see that she needs some extra supplements and are able to get those to her thru corn based foods.

It could be correct...but I edited my chosen use of carnivore.

This, however, I disagree with:

You're either vegan or you're not.

I suppose you are one of those that believes you can be just a little bit pregnant too?

Which is great, and I commend you for that. The main reason I'm a vegetarian is not because I think it's wrong to eat meat, it's because of the harmful environmental effects of a society that eats way too much of it. If everyone were like you, I'd eat meat too.

However, as far as definitions of words like "vegan" and "vegetarian" it doesn't put you in a different category. One is not defined as such based on how much meat one eats, but by one's willingness to do so at any given time.

If you sit down to eat a meal and there is meat on your plate and you will eat it, whether once a day, once a week, once a month, etc, you are not a vegetarian. You are an omnivore.

Agreed almost 100%.

However, I stand by my original "part of the time" statement. I go through periods of time where I am strictly vegan--longer periods than said day, week or month. Thus, "part of the time" applies and can be used, decidedly.

Is it just me - or is she having a difficult time admitting that she was wrong?

And how long as it been, how many years have dogs been domesticated, to think they aren't equipped to survive successfully on a diet that consists of both rice, veggies and salmon? Your said dog, if left to his/her own devices, likely would not be "hunting" and eating meat, but rumaging through nasty garbage piles.

The fact is I agree, and have since my first response that I do NOT feel my animals should be vegan or even vegetarian.

I've been a bad girl, turtle.;)

The use of said phrase "part of the time" can not be proven correct or incorrect in a jury of my unbiased peers. Thus, it is matter of opinion and no wrong-doing to admit. :)

I love an argument with you. :)

>>For the record: I'm only vegan part of the time, vegetarian part

>Thank god for the smilie. Because this does not make a damn bit of sense.

Makes sense to me. When I went to high school I knew a few girls (from a nearby catholic school) who were virgins most of the time - except when they were having sex.

Of course you do. In your continuing quest to seek out new knowledge I'm your source of enlightenment.;)

You can't wikipedia your way into proving me wrong, Roberto.

:)

Nope, I can just common sense my way through it. Being stubborn does not mean you are correct.:ph34r:

Reminds me of a poem I heard . . . something like this:

I once took occaision
to argue with my wife
The strength it gave my jaw
lasted the rest of my life.

This thread quickly went from pets eating meat to meat-petting turtles. :S

I don't think I am necessarily correct, I just think neither are you.:)
In a common sense contest I would smoke your ass anyways. Your shades have limited your peripheral view.;)

You make bold statement with little to back it up.

I like that. ;)
