MagicGuy 0 #1 August 14, 2006 I'm trying to find some kind of software for my iBook that will let me edit the size of a picture. All that I need to do is make some pictures smaller so I can upload them on MySpace. Anyone know a program that will work? Preferably something free.. Thanks! AggieDave 6 #2 August 14, 2006 Check for Gimp, I think they make a version for hippies...I mean for the Mac. Ok, seriously, it rivals Photoshop and its free.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."
DancesWClouds 0 #3 August 14, 2006 Hey there, MagicGuy~~ You most likely have iPhoto already installed on your Mac. Go ahead and crop picture how you want it, then go to File/Export. You can leave the format as original (which is a JPEG), or pull down to JPG (which is a JPEG, lol). Click on the radio button that says "Scale images no larger than:" and mess with the size. You may have some trial and error to see what works for you. I used to teach classes on resolution and if you REALLY want to know more info than "mess with the size", I'd be happy to fill you in, ad nauseum. PM me if you want specifics for print and web resolution. Enclosed are two exports from iPhoto. @ Dances Muff Brother #2169 "You can take the girl out of the sky, but not the sky out of the girl!" murrays 0 #4 August 14, 2006 You can use iPhoto which is on your Mac....Select the files you want to upload, File...Export and then enter the size you want them to be. You can do an awful lot of basic stuff within iPhoto. This Apple support page has links to tutorials and so on for iPhoto that you might find helpful. If you have to fiddle with the file size to meet a kb limit..like on dropzone.com...by changing the jpg quality, etc you need something else....Graphic Converter will do it or Photoshop Elements at a fairly reasonable price. Or, you can use GIMP as AggieDave mentioned but I think you will have to install X11 (Unix windowing software) first.-- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
