Icon134 0 #1 August 14, 2006 and Fresh home grown tomatoes (and peppers) mean... Homemade salsa, Fresh Tomato Chili, and best of all BLT's... any other tasty dishes that can be made with fresh tomatoes? or does anyone else get excited about random strangeness like this? (Serve at room temp) Happy girl over here!!BobbiA miracle is not defined by an event. A miracle is defined by gratitude.
livendive 8 #6 August 14, 2006 My tomato plants are going nuts...two of them are so tall they come up to the middle of my chest! I got a late start, so I've only gotten to eat a couple dozen cherries & a couple Roma's so far, but that looks to be changing in the very near future. I also planted some california wonders (bell peppers), thai hot chili peppers, and jalapenos, all of which have plenty of fruit growing on them. Here's my question on the peppers though, how the hell will I know when they're ripe? Seriously! Blues, Dave"I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!" skymama 37 #7 August 14, 2006 I did something like that a few weeks ago, only I used Feta cheese and stuck them under the broiler for a few minutes. My favorite is the recipe Bobbi posted, but a close second is fresh tomatoes diced up with fresh cucumber, a little bit of diced onion, olive oil and vinegar and a dash of garlic salt. Yum!!!
