Muenkel 0 #1 August 15, 2006 I'm done with dial up internet! Living in East Bumfuck, my only internet options are dial up or satellite. My dial up is slow as shit and even slower when my McAfee Security does its downloads. Even though dial up costs only $15 per month, I'm looking into getting satellite. I know it will cost a boat load of money, but I don't care anymore. I need to get myself into the 21st Century!Chris _________________________________________ Chris
freeflir29 0 #2 August 15, 2006 It's the way to go. We have Sat internet at the Farm and it works fairly well. The Sat internet in Iraq sucks balls though. Good luck with yours!
d_squared431 0 #3 August 15, 2006 Get rid of that dial up shit! Anything is better then dial up. I have high speed cable and love it.TPM Sister#130ONTIG#1 I love vodka.I love vodka cause it rhymes with Tuaca~LisaH You having a clean thought is like billyvance having a clean post.iluvtofly
flyangel2 2 #4 August 15, 2006 Then once you get rid of dial up, you can get rid of your home phone. Do you know how nice it is to not have a house phone? No one calling and asking to sell me something. The only phone I have is my cell phone, and the only people that call me are the ones I give my number to. Next thing you know, you'll be getting a laptop!May your trails be crooked, winding, lonesome, dangerous, leading to the most amazing view. Muenkel 0 #14 August 15, 2006 This is what my computer is doing right now. In the lower right hand corner, there is a little yellow icon that looks like a shield. I put my mouse on it and it says 'Installing updates'. It has been doing this since yesterday. Next to it is an icon for Adobe Reader Update Manager. It has managed to reach 70% in the past 5 hours. The hottest chick in the world could be trying to reach me right now and she's getting a damned busy signal. I'm not happy. flyangel2 2 #15 August 15, 2006 Well then, if I lived in an area like that, I don't think I'd like towers around also. Atleast you'll have faster Internet nowMay your trails be crooked, winding, lonesome, dangerous, leading to the most amazing view. skybytch 273 #16 August 15, 2006 Do not get Directway. It sucks ass, and the customer "support" is even worse than the service.
Muenkel 0 #17 August 15, 2006 I already looked into Directway and figured they sucked ass before I ever signed up. Their satellite TV sucks ass also. My brother is an IT Manager and he is doing the research for me. Chris _________________________________________ Chris

Adobe reader Update, on a dial up connection! Look no further... The Adobe update is like 10-15Mb or so..... depending on the language you're installing. You should begin this update when you're going to bed.... When you wake up in the morning, it should be OK!!! I mean... Adobe just can't live with a 100K update. They like to transfer the whole thing.... Yves.

livendive 8 #20 August 15, 2006 Is satellite still download only (uploads go through your phone line)? I've got my TV and internet through one company and it's convenient and reasonably priced (if anyone can call $125/month "reasonable"), but the service is a bit too spotty for me on the high def channels. I'd like to switch to something better, but am not all that attracted to the concept of splitting my one bill into 3 bills (land line, DSL, and satellite TV), especially when it's gonna cost me more money for slower internet access. Are people happy with clearchannel internet service (or whatever it's called...goes through cell towers)? Blues, Dave"I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!"
