simplyputsi 0 #1 August 15, 2006 Yeah, I stop to get gas last night and the pump says see attendant. So I go in and am like what's up? I could understand him mostly, and from what I got they were low on gas so they were only accepting cash until they got more gas and that was how it was at all the BP's in the area. I was like ummmm well ok, bye. Was this only an Atlanta thing? edit: I can't spell.Skymama's #2 stalker -
Thanatos340 1 #2 August 15, 2006 The real cashier was tied up in the back somewhere. There wasnt enough cash in the register for more crack Rock, So the guy was just hanging out selling gas till he had enough.

TrophyHusband 0 #4 August 15, 2006 i stopped for gas yesterday in oregon and handed the attendant my card. he said that gas was 10 cents a gallon more than the advertised $3.15. i took my card back and went to a different gas station. i've always been under the impression that businesses who accepted credit cards did so under the agreement that they wouldn't charge the customer more and would always accept them just as they would cash. i must have been misinformed. Buried 0 #5 August 15, 2006 that's how it should be unless they offer a 'cash discount' i'm actually curious if some items would be cheaper if we never had credit cards where companies take 2.5-7% of the total sale Where is my fizzy-lifting drink? TrophyHusband 0 #7 August 15, 2006 i've heard of the cash discount. i know its semantics, but i thought it was a businesses way of getting around the aggreement. "no mr. visa, we aren't charging credit card customers more, we're charging them our advertised price. we're just giving other customers a discount. there's nothing in our agreement that says i'm not allowed to give discounts is there?" If you 'eat' the expenses...you're not in business long. on a similar note, I love that misconception... that businesses pay taxes. no, dummy, you the customer pays the tax. anything that a business has to pay will trickle down to the consumer. plain and simple. And it was my understanding that they arent supposed to charge you a different price, no matter how you slice it. whether its a "cash discount" or different prices for cash/credit customers, the end result is the same. Now, good luck on enforcing it, as I have yet to hear of somebody getting a merchant account yanked for the practice. Two wrongs don't make a right, however three lefts DO! I've got no problem with it; it's just a more transparent way of addressing the cost of credit card processing fees. It gets passed on to you (the customer) in one of two ways: 1) everyone pays higher prices because some use a credit card or 2) those who use a credit card pay higher prices if they choose to use a card."There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please.
