BBQ sauce on prime tenderloin?!?

Recommended Posts

Because Prime is the highest designation beef gets so that is what I am going on.

Honestly, I am more offended that he called it BBQ -- he even made the distinction.

:D:D

Being offensive is also another guyish thing to do - I agree that there SHOULD be a section for such offenses, but as we are trying to keep the guy card guidelines as uncomplicated as the average male, that is what we have to work with.

There is MOST DEFINITELY a section on knowing the difference between bbqing and grilling.

Just because you use BBQ sauce does not mean you are bbqing.

Yes, yes there is - but no points are lost because of regional lingo. Tin foil hats are also covered - but again - the loop hole is that it was determined that you infact have aluminum foil on your head.

I dispute the regional lingo. he said:

***so I'm about to do the unthinkable and BBQ (as opposed to "grill") ***

indicating he at least knew there was some type of distinction. I do not see how regional lingo comes into play here.

This is the best "argument" ever. :)
Why yes, my license number is a palindrome. Thank you for noticing.

Maybe I DO need a guy card demerit! I rubbed the meat up, cooked on high for a few minutes on each side, then moved to cooler parts of the grill and basted with BBQ sauce & turned every few minutes. Ended up nicely done, with glazed sauce but not too much burnt sugars on the outside, pink and juicy in the middle.

So was that BBQing or grilling? :P

Grilling.

Grilling = high heat, short cooking time
BBQ = low heat, long cooking time

It was only a couple minutes of high heat at the start to sear the outside (contain the juices), but the majority of time was low heat and much slower than I'd normally cook a tenderloin. :P

I took it that the BBQ sauce is what he was referring to as BBQ-ING

Someone punch me in the head. :| When I was out shopping I thought I was in the mood for good steak & wine tonight, so I splurged. Now at home (drinking margaritas), Stubb's BBQ rub & sauce sounds better (closest store with Moppin' Sauce is 10 miles away >:(), so I'm about to do the unthinkable and BBQ (as opposed to "grill") a couple perfectly good prime grade tenderloins. :S

Just thought you would all really like to know. :P

What she said. I will admit though that I'm pretty sure reading your web page yesterday was the culprit behind my sudden change of dinner plans last night.

Yup! :)
I like grilling steaks and T-bones. :)

Carry on guys! It's an interesting subject.

Some day, i'd like to learn and try BBQing meat, Texas style.

BBQing means cooking/smoking meat slowly. It's not something we do often around here.

By the way... for those of you who are looking for the ULTIMATE BBQ, for grilling meat, take a look at the Woodflame BBQ grill. Its amazingly small, but provides tremendous heat. I have the Woodflame Delecto grill in my trailer, and it's more powerful than the $1500.00 gas grill I have at home.
