masterrig 1 #51 August 16, 2006 QuoteQuoteYeah, it's quite a place! Seeing it from an Interstate isn't quite enough. You know, I just got back from spending the last two days in Gruene, so I'm kinda Texas Proud right now! Man, nothing is TX like floating down the Guadalupe, spending your evening at the Grist Mill in the presence of Gruene Hall and some other serious "recent" TX history (1870s till present). Its been a couple of years since I've been to the Alamo or to Washington on the Brazos. I might need to take a couple of day motorcycle trips in the next couple of months. Ever been to Dublin and had real Dr. Pepper? ______________________________ No, Sir. I've only passed by the plant. I'm sitting here trying to figure-out why, I never stoppd! I have had a Lone Star at the brewery! Chuck

Dublin Dr. Pepper is so much better than the corn surp crap they sell now. Of course you can get it in 12oz cans or in glass bottles. Ever time I go through the area I buy a couple of cases. Ever time Doc Stewart comes down from there (he lives in Dublin) he'll bring me a case or two. Oh man I love that stuff, too bad the rest of the bottling plants bought into the corporate crap. QuoteI never stoppd! I have had a Lone Star at the brewery!Laugh NICE. I've been by the old brewery before, and obviously I've been by the old Pearle brewery as well. How cool would it be to own one of those old building on those sites? Turn it into a loft apartment or a cool loft style office building.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." There's just something about those old buildings that to me, beats the hell out of the glass and steel we see so much of today. Arounf Wharton, there's some old buildings there that are really cool. Everything is 'big' money, these days. I had an old cowboy tell me one time that he had seen a lot of changes in his time and never liked a damned one of them! There's a reason why my dream business is to be opened in an old TX downtown in an old building. Obviously some rebuilding inside the building may need to be completed to make my business happen, but that can happen. I now have 20 years to make it happen for my second career.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."

The fact that I've already started to get things moving to give me the opportunity to make my dream come true 20 years from now, will give me the upperhand.Life is just a series of goals. If you don't spend your life working towards your goals, whatever they may be, then what was your life? A flat line of events with no major points outside of random chance. That's not good enough for me. I don't want to be rich, I only want to be happy. Seems like, those folks with a lot of money, spend most of their lives trying to get more and keeping someone else from getting it. All my life, I've had a dream of some kind. not a lot of money but, I've just kept going after them till they 'happened'. There's a lot of satisfaction in that. I'm married with a woman who believes in dreams too. That right there makes it all the better. Chuck
