freeflir29 0 #1 August 18, 2006 Good God. Just got done signing a contract for work. Even though it's done and there really weren't any significant changes from last time that I didn't know about ahead of time. It STILL gives me butterflies in my stomach. The BAD kind. Why does comittment scare me so bad?

freeflir29 0 #8 August 18, 2006 No whining necessary when signing a contract with those numbers on it. It's just comitting to something for 15 months is SCARY.

cocheese 0 #11 August 18, 2006 Keep up your master plan. I envy your possibility of early retirement, but i wouldn't be there for any amount of money. My guy card doesn't have an international stamp on it. There are some places i just don't go in this lifetime.

freeflir29 0 #14 August 18, 2006 Quotehave you seen the number that Congress did on us, tax-wise?? Most of that doesn't effect me since I didn't qualify for the 330 anyway. The bonafide resident change may effect me though. Don't know what other changes there have been. I let my CPA in Florida worry about that crap. It just gives me a headache!!! That's one I don't have to worry about, the bona fide resident stuff... JohnnyD... Basically, Congress shafted anyone working outside of country. There's changes in how you calculate any housing exemption and how much you get. The biggy, however, is the change in the tax rate. Under the old plan, you did your exemption and the remainder became your adjusted income and was taxed accordingly. NOW, the remainder is taxed as if the exemption wasn't there. F'rinstance: exemption of 80k, you made 90k. Under the old system, you were responsible for taxes on 10k (the remainder), or ~$1139 Now, you take the tax rate for the FULL amount (90k - $19714) and subtract the tax for the exemption (80k - $16914) and end up with a $2800 tax bill... nothing like a 250% tax increase, hmm?Mike I love you, Shannon and Jim. sharimcm 0 #16 August 18, 2006 I just bought a plane ticket to Phoenix... It was making me nervous to push the "Confirm and Go To Next Step" button... Oh well. Looks like I'll be going to Phoenix, or lose the $160.30... Got to agree with them on this one. Its a step in the right direction, but still a huge loophole.
