FlyingJ 0 #1 August 18, 2006 Getting ready to head out west on wildfire detail for the first time. I’ve seen a couple people mention spending time on fires out west and had a couple questions. In regard to the type of stuff that you brought/didn’t bring with you… What did you bring that was a waste of space/weight that you should have left at home? What did you wish that you had brought that you didn’t, or that you didn’t bring enough of? Any other tidbits of advice for a newbie to the left coast? I do have prescribed fire and wildfire experience, just finally able to take the time to see how it’s done on the other side of the country. I’m totally hyped about finally heading out there, but I am a little worried about how my “mountain” legs are going to hold up after living in Florida for the last two years. Down here the worst slope you have to deal with is a drainage ditch and when your day is over you drive home to go to bed!Killing threads since 2004.
