karenmeal 0 #5 August 22, 2006 Not yesterday.. but I have seen a bear on that hike before. Our dog chased the bear off down a hill! Now Jonah stays on a leash when we go through bear country and I carry bear mace. gmittar 0 #11 August 22, 2006 QuoteIn the Washington Alps Beautiful scenery. Um, the word Alpine isn't strictly reserved for the alps, it has become analagous of high mountain terrain, even though in a literal sense you would be correct. |>.<| Seriously, W.T.F. mate? steveorino 7 #16 August 23, 2006 I've been there before (I think) Is there a giant rock (almost an island) near the shore? I lived in Seattle in the 90s and would take a few days off and camp by this alpine lake. steveOrino
karenmeal 0 #17 August 23, 2006 There is a giant rock that has some dirt on top and some small trees that juts out into the water. Great picnic place. You can dive off the rock.. but it was too cold yesterday to go swimming. I'm taking a group of DZ bums up to this place next Monday and Tuesday (our weekend) for some relaxing. Wanted to go up there this week and check to see if there were good campsites for all of us. Attached is the view from the rock. -Karen "Life is a temporary victory over the causes which induce death." - Sylvester Graham

ACMESkydiver 0 #19 August 23, 2006 Very pretty! I like doing the 'nature thing' on horseback. It's so cool to run it out on a straight stretch! 'Course I haven't done that in prolly 12 years though... Have fun on your camping trip! Take pics! (But don't post any nekkid ones. I prolly know the DZ bums you're referring to and we don't need to see them nekkid on the internet!! )~Jaye Do not believe that possibly you can escape the reward of your action. I swam to the rock and he jumped in following me. He even climbed up the big round rock. I dove off and swam to another rock, assuming he would follow. he didn't. After an hour or so I swam back and tried to toss him into the water to swim with me. He was 60# and I "almost" made it. He hit the rock about 2/3rds the way down. Tough dog! steveOrino
