There are gelato recipes for the homemade ice cream maker, but they don't come out the righ consistency because the ice cream maker mixes in too much air for gelato. You can get a gelato maker for $200 or $300. True gelato contains less air, no cream, and is served less frozen than ice cream.I don't have an M.D. or a law degree.
