Insomnia from Drinking??

Recommended Posts

Anybody know why if I have a bunch of beers in during the day, I'll wake up almost every time about 1-2am and cant fall back to sleep until around 430am or so? A friend of mine said it's because of the sugars in the beer but I don't get it.

I know most people sleep better with a few but not here.

I've read where alcohol can effect your sleep cycles. It may help you doze off initially but when you are in a lighter phase of sleep you will probably wake up and have trouble falling back to sleep. Usually the more you have to drink the harder time you will have getting back to sleep.

And even though someone suggested it, please don't mix alcohol with any drug especially an otc allergy medication.:S

Hard liquor and wine can do the same thing, as well.

You drink to fall asleep, then it wakes you up later on. I know people who have gotten stuck on that one.

There is nothing more dangerous than breaking a basic safety rule and getting away with it. It removes fear of the consequences and builds false confidence. (tbrown)

Happens to me too, especially when I get really smashed.

I figured my body was doing it to me as punishment, so that I could experience every moment of the upcoming hangover without sleeping through any of it. And I hate my body for it.
