Lindercles 0 #5 August 25, 2006 I did a search, but I couldn't find what happened. Looks like a premature deployment, but what did the pilot do??
adventurechick 0 #6 August 25, 2006 While the jumper was in the plane, his closing pin came loose. The pilot put his hand on the guys main, and he got the guy out of the plane and pulled his pilot chute. I think that is how it happened! If that's wrong, please correct me! Thanatos340 1 #7 August 25, 2006 Premature deployment on climb out in a Pitts. Pilot was Flying inverted with one hand and caught the D-bag and deflected it with the other. http://www.photoreflect.com/scripts/prsm.dll?eventorder?photo=0BUT0040000001&start=0&album=0&adjust=-
Lindercles 0 #8 August 25, 2006 It's hard to tell what's going on in the picture if you don't already know. So the pilot is in the seat behind the jumper, and the jumper's PC is still in the BOC, and the pilot deflected the D bag when it came out?? Damn! More like the pilot held the d-bag in place so that the jumper would clear the tail before the preemie deployment killed them both.I'm not usually into the whole 3-way thing, but you got me a little excited with that. - Skymama BTR #1 / OTB^5 Official #2 / Hellfish #408 / VSCR #108/Tortuga/Orfun

Thanatos340 1 #11 August 25, 2006 This pic shows is better.. http://www.photoreflect.com/scripts/prsm.dll?eventorder?photo=0BUT0040000000&start=0&album=0&adjust=-1&d=0&nphoto=0BUT0040000001 You see the pilot holding the D-bag in place before he starts the roll, The jumper isalready standing and bout to leave that plane one way or another. Pilot, then inverts and and gets rid of the problem. Everyone lands safe.

The cockpit is very tight. A big jumper with a big rig, just won't fit in there. I saw one jumper try repeatedly to get inside, and just couldn't do it. He was sent away, and came back later with a borrowed, smaller rig, and then managed to squeeze himself in there. Beware.
