I've been on the ground since the 2nd of July...

...and I'm about ready to snap :|

I'm actually mildly curious about how to go about jumping my new canopy when it gets here, since it'll be my pre-second downsize. I figure I might have to go jump the student 230 we've got a few times sometime this month just to get the feeling back (new canopy is a 190, been jumping a 210), I think it'd be a little irresponsible to put my first jump in 3-3.5 months (by the time it gets here) on a brand new canopy 20sqft smaller than the one my last jump was on (though it's the same model. Fusion 210 -> Fusion 190). Thoughts? Maybe get a demo 210 or something just to get a few jumps and find my form again?

My longest layoff prior to this was about 5 weeks, and that wasn't an issue, but... :|

rental gear....

Smallest rental we've got is a square hybrid-fabric 230, unless something has changed. Right now that's one of my options, unless I just hook something to my current rig, which has a packed and current reserve.. just no main.

Of course I would always want to jump my own gear, and if you find a demo then use that but atleast the 230 will get you some air time to brush up on the skills.

Yeah. My freefall of course is the least of my concerns, I just want to avoid bouncing my shit halfway into Canada on landing :D

Then again, I hadn't jumped for like a month when my put my first jumps on my 210, and that was a HUGE downsize. 280sqft F111 square 7cell to a 210sqft ZP semi-elliptical 9cell. I was glad that was a windy day, and that fucker still seemed like I was riding a bullet :D

No canopy course yet, there's never been one within a reasonable driving distance. Hoping to take one soon, however.

About 110 jumps (I'm gonna get flaaaaaaaaaaaaaaamed now), including everything on BillVon's checklist: Upwind, downwind, crosswind, front risers, rear risers, flat turns, flare turns, etc.

Ideal would be a 210, something like a Pilot or a Sabre2. Failing that, jumping the 230 isn't a bad option; will get you used to the air again at least, so your first few jumps on the 190 will be less stressful overall.

Awesome, thanks Bill :)
