cameramonkey 0 #1 August 31, 2006 OK, all my friends know I playfully use the term “sales weasel” to refer to any salesman. I actually met a TRUE weasel today. I had to buy a wireless router for a customer of mine. I went in grabbed the one I knew I wanted, and then like any good geek, thought I would poke around to see what was there new that I didn’t know about. Sales weasel walks up… “Finding everything OK?” “Yep. I already got what I needed (held up the box) just looking around now to see if there is anything new and interesting”. “those are good routers. I prefer this other one (points to a known piece-o-crap), but that one is ok too. Can I write you a quote for that?” “well, I am in kind of a hurry now” “it will only take a minute” “I need to be somewhere in 5 minutes, and its 7 minutes away, and I still have to go through the checkout” "it will just take a minute sir" “fine” “thanks… (quietly) we get credit for these when we do quotes” “yeah, kinda figured” He handed me the printout to give to the cashier and I was on my way. What annoys me is he was VERY pushy, and he wanted to take credit for selling me something that he DIDN’T help me choose, and if he had, wouldn’t have selected what I bought. Asshole. I got back at him tho. After I was around the corner, the paper went into my pocket and didn’t come out until I got to my car… no credit for him since I didnt present the quote to the cashier. Don’t get me wrong. I understand being on commission. But for Christ’s sake don’t fabricate your commissions by being a pushy asshole and claiming sales you had absolutely no input in.Two wrongs don't make a right, however three lefts DO!
