VincentVL. 0 #1 May 13, 2007 I was checking out the Argus website and I found some confusing info in the faq. The Argus has a "swoop mode" Quote In what modes is the Argus available and what are the parameters? The Argus Multimode has four functioning modes that can be selected by the user: Standard, Novice, Tandem and Swoop.. The selection is made while in the «MENU» mode (see § xxx). Each mode has its own factory settings. The user is always asked to confirm the selection of a mode. Standard: 820ft (250 meters) at a fall rate of 78 mph (35 m/sec) Novice: 984 feet (300 meters) at a fall rate of 45 mph (20m/sec) Tandem: 2165 feet (660meter) at a fall rate of 78 mph (35 m/sec) Swoop: 820ft (250 meters) at a fall rate of 78 mph (35 m/sec). As you may see, it seems to be the same as standard. But then in a following Q: QuoteYou have a swoop mode; does that mean I cannot swoop with an Argus in Standard mode? No, you probably can. However, you must be aware that the gap between the speed of modern canopies, skills and the parameters of Automatic Activation Devices is narrowing and in some cases already has been exceeded. Can anybody elaborate on this swoop mode?
dragon2 2 #2 May 13, 2007 In swoop mode the Argus turns itself off after it detects an open main. To prevent Adrian-like accidents. However this means that you're on your own should you cutaway. Swoop mode is only meant for the top swoopers worldwide anyway. ciel bleu, Saskia
VincentVL. 0 #3 May 13, 2007 Oh I see. Great feature! I'm surprised the other AAD's don't have it. Or do they?
kharkness 0 #4 May 14, 2007 Cypres 2 has a speed model out now othat will fire at 98 mph at 750 ft. But unlike the expert cypres models. The speed shuts itself off at 330 ft instead of 130 ft in the expert model. The Sky's not the limit, the ground is. Fear Nothing, Regret Less.
VincentVL. 0 #5 May 14, 2007 Argus beats that though. What if one (not me) wants dive above that height??? Great invention and yet so obvious.
