waltappel 1 #1 September 1, 2006 I use Cingular and they seem kind of so-so. Anyone in Houston really like their cellular provider and do you recommend any calling plan in particular? Walt
kris2extreme 0 #2 September 1, 2006 I used to use cingular and it was OK... one of the only providers to have decent service at my house actually... I have heard that since the merger with AT&T, there have been alot of additional problems. I've personally got Nextel, but honestly the service is hit and miss at best, and I really don't use the walkie-talkie services enough to really justify having it. BUT, their phones are the only ones that I can hear the ringer on, and able to hear the person on the phone while driving my car... so i'm stuck with them for another 1.5 years or so. mnealtx 0 #4 September 1, 2006 I've got Cingular, and the only times I've not had service was due to fade (no towers in area). I don't think it was solely a Cingular problem, since Boinky's phone was cutting out before mine was. Have you checked into the quad band phones? They seem to keep connection better than tri-band...Mike I love you, Shannon and Jim. POPS 9708 , SCR 14706

Walt I travel down to Houston tons (I write this from a Houston hotel room) and T-Mobile works well for me. Co-workers down here use Verizon without complaints.----- ~~~Michael
4WayXena 0 #6 September 1, 2006 Verizon works for me just about anywhere in the country, including Home Depot and most metal buildings. Doesn't do so well in the basements and larger elevator banks in big ass buildings, tho. The only time I've incurred any roaming time type stuff has been in Canada last month. It was soooo awesome arguing with my future ex-gf on the phone for an hour at $.80 a minute about why I wasn't home instead of honoring a commitment I made before I met her. But that didn't really have anything to do with my calling plan did it? Hmmm. If cell phones have music players, video players, internet access, email capabilities and all of that - why don't they come with bottle openers and "psycho-bitch" detectors? moonglo 0 #7 September 1, 2006 I've never had a problem with Sprint in Houston or anywhere in the country, it even works at SDH! Can't say much for their prices tho...

While I can't speak for the "PB detector", some phones DO have bottle openers... they're called loop antennas!! Mike I love you, Shannon and Jim.
