Shell666 0 #1 September 3, 2006 FINALLY! Gas is less than a buck a litre! And it's the long weekend! Yep ... 95.4 a litre! Not a $100 to fill the tank - not even $80 to fill the tank! $79.94 thank you very much. Sheesh ... my life has become a cold, dark, lonely place if I'm getting excited about this. Shell666 0 #4 September 3, 2006 Quote I thought the $2.80/gallon I've been paying was insane... Nope ... just a few weeks ago, it was $1.13 a litre! Under a buck is quite nice. And the really insane thing is ... I can drive by the refinery they get it from! 'Shell (who longs for the days -- and they weren't THAT long ago -- when gas was 45.5 a litre!)'Shell

Ever think it'll drop in price again??? 'Shell'Shell

Shell666 0 #11 September 3, 2006 QuoteThat's a nice benefit of my job. I DON'T have to pay for gas 3 months at a time. I hate you ... You lucky fuck! And what size propane bottle we talking about?? I pay $10 for 20lbs ... If you were paying 0.75 for 20 lbs .. I hate you MORE! 'Shell'Shell
freeflir29 0 #12 September 3, 2006 I think it's a 20 Lb bottle. Stands about knee high or so. The size you might find on a large BBQ grill. I'm in Iraq and fuel USED to be cheap. It has SKYROCKETED since late last year just as it has all over the planet. Last year gas was as low as .9 C a gallon. Now it is somewhere in the $1.50 range I think. I'm about 60 miles from the nearest refinery. The wells are right next to the refinery. You'd think it wouldn't cost this much.

I'm about a 10 minute drive from the refinery (and for all I know, living in Alberta, I COULD have a potential well underneath my house!) But I won't complain about the gas prices here ... you're in Iraq ... that's worse than paying more here. 'Shell'Shell
freeflir29 0 #14 September 3, 2006 Quoteyou're in Iraq ... that's worse than paying more here. It's not so bad. Yesterday the biggest problem we had was the kids mobbing us wanting candy and bottles of water. I had a kid (Maybe 8 or 9 at most) ask me for a cigarette yesterday too. I said no. I spent the evening BBQing hamburgers, drinking Heineken, and throwing horse shoes. Life isn't as bad here as you might think.

Now you're just pissing me off! Glad there's some good there too! Take care! 'Shell'Shell
freeflir29 0 #17 September 3, 2006 QuoteGlad there's some good there too! This country is certainly a dichotomy. Luckily I live in the north (Kurdistan) so I see a lot of good progress. Not just the constant crap down south.
