AggieDave 6 #19 September 5, 2006 I'll explain in more detail since no one else did. Basically we've been waiting for the Zero-G room to break ground for over 2 years. When it was originally announced it was going to be done by now. The website hasn't been updated in over a year either. Then there was the L1 that was supposed to be built. That project never got off the ground either. Honestly its truely asinine, if someone wanted to make serious money they'd put a windtunnel in Arlington somwhere close to 30 and 360. So basically no one in TX is holding their breath for a tunnel and we're not replanning our tunnel trips around any new information on when a tunnel will be built. We've all made the conclusion that it will be built and running when its actually got people in it flying in a tunnel. Any time before then and its still just a pipe dream. Sorry. Too bad the old tunnel in College Station was closed and too bad the portable push tunnel broke a couple of years ago.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." Channman 2 #20 September 5, 2006 OK, I spoke with one of the individuals that is envolved in trying to make this happen. Funding the project is the primary hold up. The location in the NASA Bay Area is their primary interest, but unable at this time to make it happen due to funding. So with that said, if everyone who is a member of USPA send me your non refundable contribution of $125.00 I will build said wind tunnel in your honor. All profits will be donated to my bank account, and a Christmas card will be sent to everyone who contributed to this Great Cause.
AggieDave 6 #21 September 5, 2006 QuoteI spoke with one of the individuals that is envolved in trying to make this happen. Funding the project is the primary hold up. Well, yeah. Like I said, I'm not going to hold my breath. Funding is about earning trust from a lender. That involved previous business success and equity to borrow against. There are some skydivers in Texas that *could* do that with the amount of money that is involved, but not many skydivers in TX could.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." AggieDave 6 #24 September 5, 2006 QuoteIt is still looking better than it did 15 years ago. Dude, around 10-15 years ago there WAS a tunnel in TX. It was even in College Station. It was where the Wolf Pen Creek bowling alley is now off of SW Parkway near the mall.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."
