SkydiveStMarys 0 #1 September 5, 2006 I need a new vacum cleaner. The one that I had, I used on carpets and its old and well quite frankly, it sucks and not the way it supposed to. What type of vacum cleaner to you recommend? I will buy one by the weekend, because I can't stand it any more!! BobbiA miracle is not defined by an event. A miracle is defined by gratitude. guppie01 0 #2 September 5, 2006 I love Dyson.... I don't have one of my own, but when I want to deep clean I borrow my girlfriends and I'm amazed at how much that thing "sucks!" Edited to add.... I don't have dogs or hardwood floors, but I do have 2 cats and TONS of hair to clean up after. Hopefully Santa will bring me one this year.... g"Let's do something romantic this Saturday... how bout we bust out the restraints?" Raddest Ho this side of Jersey #1 - MISS YOU OMG, is she okay? Icon134 0 #4 September 5, 2006 I've heard very good things about dysons and as I'm sure many of you are aware I do have a dog hair problem (I have tile floors)... I usually sweep my floors with a broom but when I finally decide to replace my vacuum I will probably buy a dyson.Livin' on the Edge... sleeping with my rigger's wife... irisheyes 0 #8 September 5, 2006 I have two dogs and hardwood floors. I picked up a new vacuum about 6 months ago in Walmart. It was either $37 or $47, I can't remember, but it completely serves its purpose. Will look at it when I get home to figure out which one it is. SkydiveStMarys 0 #9 September 5, 2006 Thank you. I would love to invest in a great vacum cleaner, I just have a really hard time shelling out that kind of dough. Though I do understand they are superb and blah, blah, blah....but a "middle of the road" vacum cleaner would be fine too. BobbiA miracle is not defined by an event. slug 1 #10 September 5, 2006 Hello nice lady IMO since you have hardwood floors you don't need a vacum cleaner to pick up the "deep down ground in dirt". thats for carpets. I suggest going to home depot, lowes, etc and checking out one of the Janitor type sweepers they have a articulated heads, removable dust collector's, and come in 2-3' width. No electricity needed, dirt cheap, fast, quiet etc. Push all the hair dirt etc into a pile and use a broom and dust pan to pick it up & throw the stuff in the trash. R.I.P. wmw999 2,589 #12 September 5, 2006 I have one of these. It's fabulous. Cordless, so I don't have to schlep a cord around. It sucks up anything the dogs can lay down. And it's small enough to live in the downstairs closet, rather than somewhere inconvenient. I have 2 dogs and both hardwood and tile floors downstairs. Obviously I don't use this on carpet, but it's OK on the area rug I have in one room. I'm not one to sing the praises of household appliances as a rule. But this one is great. And the battery lasts for 1200 sq. ft. of vacuuming. Wendy W.There is nothing more dangerous than breaking a basic safety rule and getting away with it. I have to second this as I do have wood floors and 2 shed monsters. The vacume can get the tumbleweeds, but the duster is what keeps floor clean between scrubbings.Fly it like you stole it! SkydiveStMarys 0 #14 September 5, 2006 Yep, I dry mop every day sometimes twice a day. I use the vacum to suck up the pile of dog hair and then to vacum my bedroom. I'm kinda tired of the dry mopping thing, thats why I am looking for a good vacum cleaner. I like Wendys suggestion.BobbiA miracle is not defined by an event. A miracle is defined by gratitude. demoss99 0 #22 September 6, 2006 We use a Roomba. Its a robat vacuum from a company called IRobot. We leave turn it on when we leave in the morning and it does its thing. We empty it when we get home. We run it every other day and it does a great job. It also entertains the cats!!!!! We saved a bunch of money by getting one from a wholesaler on Ebay.
