Nope, mine goes out on the covered deck, sits in his chair and listens to the thunder and watches the light show. His fave place to be when it storms! The big white "cat" in this pic, on the other hand, is a chicken-shit! If he can get on my lap when the thunder roars, he will! 'Shell'Shell
SkydiveStMarys 0 #3 September 7, 2006 I have four dogs. One is terrified of thunder and lightening and the other three feed off of her fear. The one that is really terrified will hide deep into my walk-in closet or gets under my bed (this new hiding place started today). I am sure that is she could say, "the sky is falling, the sky is falling." she would. The other just run back and forth thru the house. BobbiA miracle is not defined by an event. moodyskydiver 0 #4 September 8, 2006 Yup.Anytime we get a good storm here (wish we had one now...damn drought.) we end up with 5 cats and a dog in bed with us.Every now and then 1 or 2 of the cats will hide deep inside my walk-in closet. ImGunnaJump 0 #5 September 8, 2006 Oh yeah. My cat runs to the closet with the first clap of thunder - she's amazingly quick for a 17 year old cat."...I've learned that while the "needs" in life are important (food, water, shelter), it's the "wants" in life (ice cream, chocolate, sex) that make it worth the effort." I had a pure bred seal point siamese that my parents got about a year before I was born ... she died when I was 21. Hope your kitty lives that long! matt1215 0 #7 September 8, 2006 Wow, a 22 y/o cat. It's funny, loud noises are the only thing Shadow's really afraid of. She runs and hides when I draw the window-shades. When I came home on the 4th of July, she was hiding in a box deep in the closet. I had some tuna, hoping the smell would draw her out, but she stayed in that box until it was time for breakfast. Yep 22 years old and she was pretty much okay up until about 12 hours before she died. She LOVED to curl up on the furnace vent in the floor in the living room. That was her spot in the winter. One day, she curled up there and when it came time for dinner, she couldn't get up. We sat with her in the room for a few hours, talking to her, petting her and the she just took a deep breath, curled up (like ONLY a cat can do!) and stopped breathing. She had good life, a TON of cute kitties (pure bred and a couple of sneaky-neighbour-cat litters) and she was my baby. Her name was Tiki. She was a sweetie! I hope you have many more years with your little gal! And being a siamese, Tiki wasn't afraid of ANYTHING! She was my guard cat! Wow ... thanks for making me think of the little girl! I hadn't thought of her in a while (it has been 18 years!) but it's cool to remember what a neat cat she was! 'Shell'Shell
ImGunnaJump 0 #9 September 8, 2006 Quote Hope your kitty lives that long! Awwww, thanks. I hope she does to. Spaz (my brother named her - I always feel I have to put that disclaimer in!) is in pretty good shape for an old gal. She's beautiful too - an all black short-hair, with gold eyes! And very well behaved I inheritied her from my brother when he moved back to Cali - he was afraid he couldn't find an apartment right away that would allow him to have a cat. So she's been with me for the last 12 years or so."...I've learned that while the "needs" in life are important (food, water, shelter), it's the "wants" in life (ice cream, chocolate, sex) that make it worth the effort." Muenkel 0 #10 September 8, 2006 I know you're talking about kitties here, but what's a thread without a hijack. I used to have no fear of thunder storms until last year when my house took a direct hit from lightning. The explosion was huge. Fortunately, the house is still standing but had a shitload of electrical damage and some minor structural damage. Since then, when I hear thunder I have to admit, I get a little nervous. ImGunnaJump 0 #11 September 8, 2006 Oh, I totally get that. I was never bothered by storms either until about a month ago when we had a 12 hour period of just wicked storm weather. It just pounded rain all evening, and the lightning was so constant it was like a strobe light going off. And the really unnerving part was that the lightning was so low to the ground - it was just at roof level, and stayed there. Verrrry scarry. It hit our apartment bldg. , hit the bldgs. across the street and down the block....and knocked out everything around us until the next morning. I don't need to take a Xanax or anything but I do find myself being a little apprehensive with the lightening now P.S. sorry to hear about the damage - hope insurance covered it"...I've learned that while the "needs" in life are important (food, water, shelter), it's the "wants" in life (ice cream, chocolate, sex) that make it worth the effort."
