steveorino 7 #1 September 8, 2006 Back in the 70s & 80s I had a big mustache (looks so gay now). In the 90s I grew a goatee. My wife loves it, but I thought it look dated (90s thing) I shaved off the 'stache and have just a chin beard. Some of my peers (who still have goatees) say I look Amish. Actually, I think I'd like to shave it all off except the triangle goat-head under my bottem lip. Sortof like Apollo Ono (speed skater) What is in? Should I care? Why shouldn't I care (I mean I don't wear leisure suits ... anymore) EDITED: Sorry, I thought I was in Bonfire; Mods, please move. steveOrino

mnealtx 0 #3 September 8, 2006 I say go for it... with all the other stuff from our childhood coming back, the 'soul patch' HAS to catch back on!! Then you can go to coffeehouses dressed all in black and recite bad poetry to complete the experience!! Mike I love you, Shannon and Jim. livendive 8 #4 September 8, 2006 I had just a chin beard for a few years, then switched back to the full goatee about 2 years ago. I'm sure it's dated, but I've gotten old enough not to care. I can't stand the way I look clean-shaven or with just a mustache, and a full beard is too scratchy & hot. Blues, Dave"I AM A PROFESSIONAL EXTREME ATHLETE!" headoverheels 334 #5 September 8, 2006 What Livendive said. Your present facial hair is dated, as is what you are suggesting, but you are probably mature enough not to care.

lawrocket 3 #8 September 8, 2006 It looks to me like facial hair still is in. As for me, I've never grown facial hair, but for my experiment with growing a goatee that ended after a week because I thought it looked dumb on me. It's interesting that I haven't changed my hairstyle in 15 years (I just made it shorter), nor have I changed anything else, which probably makes me the same dork I have always been. Still, I think you'd look cool with a "flavor saver" under your lower lip... My wife is hotter than your wife.

AggieDave 6 #15 September 8, 2006 That's one of the things that will happen upon retirement. My razor will never touch my face again, except for trimming duties. A fat mustache is only in if you're a 20 year vetern cop. A goatee is in, especially if you let the bottom of the beard get just a *little* shaggy. It would seem that full beards are in as well. Go with Wolverine super-chops! Or a shaggy goatee with big sideburns. How about a full on beard? Figure out what you like and go with it, who cares if its "in" its not like you're wearing a Member's Only jacket, its just facial hair. Then again, I'm not exactly the right person to ask, I don't wear baggy pants outside of skydiving and my hats are worn facing forward.--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." steveorino 7 #16 September 8, 2006 The chops are good on you, but I have never been able to grow much facial hair EXCEPT the goatee. I always thought when I grew up I'd grow more hair. I'm 51 now, so I've given up waiting on the 'burns to grow in. steveOrino

Then I must be super "in." I've got the full beard, with the cheeks trimmed close and the chin just a *little* shaggy. And I've had it this way for years, so I must have been ahead of my time! GTAVercetti 0 #18 September 8, 2006 For me: moustache - out goatee in when my hair is long, so in the winter goatee out when my hair is short moustaches alone usually look silly -- mostly when they are full magnum PI style. Why yes, my license number is a palindrome. Thank you for noticing.
AggieDave 6 #19 September 8, 2006 QuoteAnd I've had it this way for years, so I must have been ahead of my time! Its like I said. Find what you like and stick with it. Facial hair is more about the person then a trend. There's guys I know that have HUGE 1970s moustaches. Its them, if they shaved it they wouldn't be them anymore.
