leroydb 0 #1 September 13, 2006 So I just crossed the 12hr mark for accumulated freefall time last weekend. This is mainly due to the 100+ Birdman jumps and some miscellaneous fun-filled tracking dives. ...Nothing compared to the awesome accomplishments of other skydivers over the history of skydiving, yet for some reason I am compelled to tell of my happiness about this occasion. I did this on jump number 693! During the 7 years I have been skydiving (2years dont count since I was deployed to combat) my only major injury has been a broken ankle, of which I was back to jumping within 4 months. Over the years I went from an excited and very exuberant and enthusiastic student, to an aggressive novice, and even an "airplane hazard” to name a few things. After a couple hundred jumps I began to slow down in more ways than one. Besides flying wingsuits, becoming Coach Rated, and beginning to fly camera for fun (which later evolved into me becoming a “vidiot” at my DZ for tandems, AFF, etc..) I had also taken my time and energy to learn, and even learn how to learn in different manners and modes, all of which helped not only evolve me as a skydiver but as a person; moreover as human being. I feel that I have changed for the better for learning to skydive and am a better person for that, and for meeting and knowing all of you. This is not a goodbye speech, this is a hello for the rest of my life and skydiving "career", and yours. I wish to thank all of you (you know who you are) for all you have said, done, and or beat into me . Thanks to all of you for allowing me to be such a great part of this even better family.Leroy ..I knew I was an unwanted baby when I saw my bath toys were a toaster and a radio... JENNR8R 0 #3 September 13, 2006 Congratulations Leroy! It's interesting to read how you have matured over the years. I never would have guessed how you used to be from meeting you last month. All of the people at Raeford were great, but you were the most welcoming of all. Thank you! p.s. I had to go look up my freefall time. I'm only five minutes short of making nine hours! How time flys! What do you call a beautiful, sunny day that comes after two cloudy, rainy ones? -- Monday.

Sockpuppet 0 #8 September 13, 2006 How do you calculate your time in freefall. Do people use "i jumped at X feet and fell for Y distance so freefall time is Z" or do you time it using a watch, log it and add it up periodically. ------ Two of the three voices in my head agree with you. It might actually be unanimous but voice three only speaks Welsh.
brianfry713 0 #9 September 13, 2006 I think most people either use a digital altimeter that records it for you, take a guess on how long each jump was, or estimate it using a freefall time chart.

leroydb 0 #11 September 14, 2006 I used a protrack for the longest, but since I lost it and most of my jumps are tandem videos, I track the jump altitude and Pull 'tude and estimate from there.Leroy ..I knew I was an unwanted baby when I saw my bath toys were a toaster and a radio...
