mnealtx 0 #1 September 13, 2006 Shots from the last couple concerts here at Bondsteel... and a moon shot, just for fun! I'll post up shots in my album here at dizzy dot in a few days (have to resize them) Lessons learned from the concerts: 1. Use your fastest lens and get as close as you possibly can. 2. Shutter speed is your friend - you won't have many keepers if everything is blurred because the subject (or you!) moved. 3. Watch your histogram - while blowing out the subject highlights blows, underexposure at ISO 1600 blows worse! Lessons from the moon shot: 1. Use mirror lockup!! 2. Sunny 16 rule is your friend 3. Having a shitty tripod and no remote shutter trip makes moon shots a LOT harder than it needs to be! Enjoy!Mike I love you, Shannon and Jim. Icon134 0 #3 September 13, 2006 Good stuff man... as always... I could have told you that you should use mirror lockup for the moon shot... Livin' on the Edge... sleeping with my rigger's wife...
Squeak 17 #4 September 13, 2006 how do you get a 100-400 with a 1.4 converter to make an 896 equiv. shot? You are not now, nor will you ever be, good enough to not die in this sport (Sparky) My Life ROCKS! How's yours doing?
mnealtx 0 #5 September 13, 2006 First off, thank you for the compliments! Shots of Carly Goodwin's show (very pretty young lady with a damn fine voice, btw) are here. Scott - I used lockup and timer to try and give the mirror vibrations a chance to die before the shutter tripped. Squeak - the Rebel XT has a 1.6 crop factor, so 400 x 1.4 x 1.6 = 896mm equivalent length on a full-frame camera.Mike I love you, Shannon and Jim. mnealtx 0 #7 September 13, 2006 Yessir, it's digital. I never got into pushing or pulling or any of that during my film days... I was a *whispering* "green box baby" back then...had no clue about ANYTHING other than pushing the button. I'm a little bit further along now...but still quite a long ways to go...Mike I love you, Shannon and Jim. POPS 9708 , SCR 14706
boinky 0 #8 September 13, 2006 Nice shots of the concert! I swear the moon shot looks like you somehow made an orange (piece of fruit) glow white and the black spots are where it's starting to rot! Nina Are we called "DAWGs" because we stick our noses up people's butts? (RIP Buzz) Yep, you're a postwhore-billyvance

mnealtx 0 #10 September 14, 2006 Whups... I got forked! Had to take down the concert pics after a message from HH - sorry about that! Anyone with suggestions for hosting?? Favorite sites? I know of Flikr and Smugmug, but that's about it. I'm not worried about having a merchant interface right now, although I wouldn't pass it up if it was offered at the site - I'm not at a point yet where my photos are good enough for sales.Mike I love you, Shannon and Jim.
