Duckwater 0 #1 September 15, 2006 I was just now sitting on the couch watching TiVoed Colbert and I hear an airplane way overhead. I immediately say "Piaggio Avanti"...I go outside and at like 6,000' headed west is exactly that. (Must have taken off from Arlington). That is a RARE aircraft to see. http://img293.imageshack.us/img293/9927/avanti2inflight1gn.jpg I really can tell most airplanes of all types by sound much less sight. I wish I had a talent that could earn some cash. I live off the South end of Ft Worth Alliance and I know when it is 15:15 because the FedEx DC-10 takes off every day at that time. cocheese 0 #4 September 15, 2006 I may be plane crazy too. Bought 11 r/c airplanes in the past 10 months. Three of them are still in the box. Over 100 hours of flight time this year.

jonstark 8 #7 September 15, 2006 You know you're good when you can tell a GII from a GIII, a GV from a Global Express, and a 180 from a 182 all by sound. Do you experience spontaneous erection when a Mustang flies over?
VectorBoy 0 #8 September 15, 2006 You are a perfectly normal plane lover. I know some people with the same addiction plus the sound of motorcycles and sports cars gets them going too. Here is one for you Ben and Pat have a Fokker tri-plane they play with now and then. Purty!
cocheese 0 #9 September 15, 2006 I get a slight errection from jet sounds.
Rookie120 0 #10 September 15, 2006 I am in the same spot as you. I can tell a lot of planes just from the sound. It's an addiction that I have not been able to beat. Still get a warm and fuzzy when I hear a P-51, Corsair, Hawker Sea Furry, or one of my favorites the Skyraider. The sounds they bellow out goes to your soul and never leave. God I love aviation! If you find yourself in a fair fight, your tactics suck!
