What do I do about a lost/stolen container?

Recommended Posts

Yes its my fault, but I need to know where, how and what to post if I have lost a container during shipping.

A friend shipped it for me and didn't know to insure it or make it signature required.

It did arrive at its destination but was left on the doorstep of an apartment complex.

I think its lost for good, just in case I would like it posted somewhere.

Thanks

Seriously, have you checked eBay or the local pawn shops?

Do you know the serial numbers of the missing gear? If yes, you may want to circulate them around on the "chance" that the rig shows up and someone takes the time to check the serial numbers.

Another thing, I've known two folks that had gear stolen in a situation where it obviously wasn't a skydiver, someone who knew about skydiving equipment and/or someone looking to swipe skydiving stuff... it was just someone who saw a box or big bag in a car or what not and snagged it... when they realized what they had (or didn't realize what they had) they just dumped it in a dumpster close by. Two of the folks I know that had gear stolen in that manner found their stuff in a dumpster within a few blocks, others didn't. May be too late at this point, but may be worth a look in the dumpsters around your neighborhood.

I too had a rig stolen from the DZ years and years back. I never did get my stuff back. :( Which means, I own 3 rigs, I just don't know where one of them is. :(:(

Anyway, good luck.

Main thing is why the courrier left it without signature. If it is the case and you were supposed to sign uppon reception, claim back the courrier company. You just cannot release a box just like that, even if you put a note to do so.Courrier is responsible to leave it like he did.

report to police. Do you have serial numbers, etc? Report to DZ.com stolen gear database, and also USPA database. Put flyers in the doors of nearby apartments and under the windshield wipers of cars. Offer a reward.

A less honourable man would have taken it in and then phoneed up FedEx to chase up where the f*ck their canopy was. :)really going to care.

Hope you get your gear back.
