vskydiver 0 #5 September 17, 2006 I think this thread is so funny. A guy in Europe/Spain followed by a guy in California followed by a guy in Vancouver followed by a guy in New York dissing on Starbucks. Have you ever been to Seattle where they have a Starbucks right across the street from a Starbucks? NO! That isn't a typo! There is a Starbucks right across the street from a Starbucks!! There are four coffee shops in my small, one stop light, town just south of Seattle and a big Starbucks is being built right between them all. You can't walk 20 paces here without hitting another coffee joint of some kind or another! They have coffee stands in the HARDWARE stores here! Every store has it's own coffee stand. Every grocery store has a coffee place like Starbucks, if not Starbucks. People are lined up down the blocks for the drive through coffee houses! I know people that buy several of these coffees every day! I think these coffees are for people that are really, REALLY bad at math. Starbucks is taking advantage of the math challenged people of the world and getting rich! When I see someone with a Starbucks paper coffee cup clutched tightly in their little hand, I have to laugh. sartre 0 #7 September 17, 2006 and that''s why I LOVE it. Yep, don't hate me because I'm a Starbucks lover. And I'm not ashamed that as soon as I walk in they start my drink before I even say what I want. And put my name on the cup. And draw happy pictures on it. Nope. I'm not ashamed to spend 4 bucks a day on one latte. Really. I'm not addicted. I can stop any time I want.

Cudlo 0 #9 September 17, 2006 I was so sad while being one of the "adults" on a school trip to Greece. We walk out of our hotel which was just outside the Plaka. To our right was a Starbucks, in front of us was a nice looking cafe. All of the kids wanted to go to the Starbucks because "it had real coffee" unlike what the cafe would sell us... good thing they didn't get to choose._________________________________________ "People demand freedom of speech to make up for the freedom of thought which they avoid." - Kierkegaard
rasmack 0 #10 September 17, 2006 QuoteNope. I'm not ashamed to spend 4 bucks a day on one latte... That's fine, but you still need to put some f$#@ing coffee in the milk, and the espresso used should be strong enough to punch right through a Starbucks papercup. That's how you get a latte with some taste.HF #682, Team Dirty Sanchez #227 “I simply hate, detest, loathe, despise, and abhor redundancy.” - Not quite Oscar Wilde... shropshire 0 #11 September 17, 2006 With you 100% I love this thread. Everyone knows that theses CostaFortune coffee houses make shite coffee, have REALLY embarrassing names for their crap (& staff!!) and charge waaay over the odds for the 'product' - so why the fuck are their premises fuck always full? We're off to Spain next week and I know that we're going to get proper, excellent quality coffee and any number of cafes for a sensible price. I know that I probably wont be able to understand the menu because I don't speak Spanish not because some marketing tosser has made up new words. . (.)Y(.) shropshire 0 #15 September 17, 2006 Hi - I have a similar one too (£17 from tesco) - it lives in the cupboard most of the time ... makes great expresso (and throthy milk) ... but I still use my cafeteria much more. I also love the smell of fresh ground beans in the house too. (.)Y(.) PLFXpert 0 #20 September 17, 2006 You know, I don't mind Starbucks haters. Coffee, like anything else is certainly a personal preference. But the whole argument about a "real" coffee or "real" latte---I'm a little lost---can someone please explain to me how your "real" coffee/latte/cappuccino is made differently? It's hilarious to me the grossly anti-what's-popular people. I mean if you don't like something, fine. I'm not a big fan of the new leggings trend, myself. But generally it's the same people that will just hate anything b/c it happens to be popular. And well, that just silly.Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back. I talked Starbucks in the ghetto latte thread...I go there because, even with the stupid terminology required to order and the fact that it is way over-priced, I love that darn Caramel Macchiatto!
