pinkfairy 0 #1 September 21, 2006 I didn't know where to post this, it's skydiving related, but not directly a skydiving question. anyway: This article on wikipedia.org needs some work: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Malfunction It's not complete, it's not accurate, it contains possibly dangerous advice (like on how to clear a lineover), things that doesn't make sense ("annoying malfunction", yeah, "annoying " above your decicion altitude, that is... "annoying linetwists" become "really annoying" below that ) I thought I would go in and edit it myself, but I'm just an A-certificate holder and not much of an authority. Just make it short and simple, and make a point that how a skydiver deals with the malfunctions depends on various factors such type of canopy, wing loading and so on, and that the aim of this article is not to give advice on how to deal with malfunctions, just give information. And it could be grouped with high-speed malfuncions first, then partial malfunctions. And kept in simple language that non-skydivers would understand. And should probably have some numbers on the frequency of malfuncions and cutaways. And a little info on why the main fails and the reserve works. People will use wikipedia to find all kinds of information, even this kind of information. Maybe it should be deleted in it's entirety, but someone will always write a new one. I'm sure it would be helpful for non-skydivers and people who hope to become skydivers that this article was a little more accurate. Anyone who want to help?Relax, you can die if you mess up, but it will probably not be by bullet. I'm a BIG, TOUGH BIGWAY FORMATION SKYDIVER! What are you?
