jamesonfd 0 #26 September 14, 2006 Sigh.... Not in the Army; I'm a Marine. A Colonel with 31 years of service. I'm writing from Iraq (no jumping here). Can't get the Squad Leader? Where's your Platoon Sergeant? Platoon Leader? 1stSgt? Even when I was a Private, I wouldn't have let one guy out of the loop perpetuate stupidity; and as an Officer I wouldn't tolerate having people hanging around for the sake of hanging around. I'm sorry you lost so much time with your Mom. It really sucks. But thanks for being part of the team, and standing up for what you believe in. Keep your head down when you get here, and be safe. TrophyHusband 0 #27 September 14, 2006 QuoteQuoteyou will have an honorable discharge hanging on the wall Does this really matter in the long run? absolutely. many jobs require you to disclose prior military service and character of service. it follows you for life. i've been out for 8 years and just yesterday i had to fill in my character of service on some paperwork. my honorable discharge is also framed and hanging on the wall in my office. it is something that i am very proud of. Ron 10 #28 September 14, 2006 Go Fast....Just remember this and if you are ever in charge...Don't be a dick. Quote -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In Reply To -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- you will have an honorable discharge hanging on the wall -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Does this really matter in the long run? YES! Most companies want to know what you did, and a discharge anything other than "honorable" will prevent you from many jobs."No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers,
fireemt97 0 #29 September 15, 2006 Been there also brother. Got called up to deploy in the middle of the night and did not leave for another 5 days. Where was my wife? Froggy 0 #30 September 15, 2006 Quotegod i loved crawling around a parking lot with my company pulling 1/8" pieces of grass out of cracks because a 1 star was showing up. Geez, sounds just like my memories in the Soviet Army -- all the same after all, huh? -------------- We were not born to fly. And all we can do is to try not to fall... Pops taught me that well, and somehow I still do it to myself and others...though I've never had the (dis)pleasure of serving. BTW, Thanks for putting up with this shit. They are running this company into the ground.
jamesonfd 0 #37 September 16, 2006 Heh...when I stop having fun working with the best people in the world. Don't let anybody bullshit you about the "Greatest Generation"; these boys and girls are the best there has ever been. Seriously, I "have" to retire in 2011. Lots of Marines don't make the transition to civilian life very well; they'd often be better advised to "retire-retire"....which is my plan. Jumps to jump, dives to dive, skiing to get done, mountains to be biked, more countries to be seen.....

DALAILAMA 0 #39 September 21, 2006 another one quit today! 3 down!"Dropzone.com, where uneducated people measuring penises, has become an art form"
matthewcline 0 #40 September 21, 2006 Why would any one quit? WTF they thinkin'? How many did ya start with and how many are left? I think the Division may actually try and "field" a 4-way team for B&G! (we will be a bit green since only 3 have any jumps at the moment). But ask Matt D we could win the "full rotation" compitition. When we happend to be there 2 years ago we could completly flip the formation with out loosing a grip and as soon as we happenedd to be righted key and go, he said he never saw any thing like it, then Chad dropped on me and gave me a concusion so Matt filed in, no issues, Larry filed in and around they went, coolist shit I ever saw. Matt just shook his head and laughed some thing about, "Place". On a side note I spent the day doing Tandems from our C-130 today. Always fun taking the cadre up and watching the "tough guys" get all mellow (Just like I did 13 years ago). MattAn Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
