mnealtx 0 #1 September 25, 2006 First thought upon seeing headline: "Wow...that's a pretty harsh penalty!" Seriously, though... I wish him a full and prompt recovery - he must've taken some SERIOUS hits!! Story here.Mike I love you, Shannon and Jim. POPS 9708 , SCR 14706
popsjumper 2 #2 September 25, 2006 Well, I guess his offensive linemen won't be getting gold watches at the end of the season. My reality and yours are quite different. I think we're all Bozos on this bus. Falcon5232, SCS8170, SCSA353, POPS9398, DS239
lawrocket 3 #3 September 25, 2006 For all of you in the rest of the world, this is American football we're talking about, and not wha we Americans call "soccer." Here, "football" players are expected to be able to take some contact and keep playing. The dude played through a ruptured fucking spleen (much like Peter Forsberg a few years ago in hockey) and did not require a stretcher. Sure, he took some time off and went to the locker room, but came back to play! This wasn't an example of a guy trying to draw a penalty from having been breathed upon. I just wanted to clarify this for everybody. While it may be obvious to some that this wasn't a soccer player (who would be sidelined by a hangnail) I just wanted to be doubly sure. My wife is hotter than your wife.

airtwardo 7 #5 September 25, 2006 - he must've taken some SERIOUS hits!! *** Yeah...but was he, "Hurt...or Injured"!? I remember asking a football coach in college once...are those my ONLY choices? Randy_H 0 #6 September 25, 2006 Quotehe must've taken some SERIOUS hits!! He did, and that is typically what happens when you have an offensive line with the skills of a pee-wee league line. No protection = injured quarterback and no running attack = no scoring in 9 quarters of football = the reason why they suck this year.010010010110010101100001011101000111000001110101011100110111001101111001

Hey, I'm all in for some good natured ribbing when it comes to college affilitations, especially since I hate Chris Simms as much as the next guy, but I don't think I get this one. What the heck does that mean? And it's especially funny since UT doesn't even have a men's soccer team (thanks Title 9!)
PLFKING 4 #10 September 25, 2006 Well, I don't "hate" Simms.....anyone that would rupture a spleen and keep playing is pretty tough in my book. I saw an opportunity to refer to an ex-Longhorn aa a pansy, and took it......just a part of maintaining my asshole status. I'd have responded the same to any ex-Notre Dame, ACC, Pac 10 or Ohio State player. Don"When in doubt I whip it out, I got me a rock-and-roll band. It's a free-for-all." DavidST 0 #11 September 25, 2006 Wow talk about adding insult to injury. Or maybe in this case it would be injury to insultAs a general rule, the better it felt when you said it, the more trouble it's going to get you into.
Lindercles 0 #12 September 25, 2006 Ah ha, that's the part I wasn't getting. I don't think of soccer players as pansies. There may not be as much contact, but they don't get to sit on the bench for half the game either. I certainly couldn't do it. I'm not giving you shit for taking a shot at Chris Simms, I just didn't get it.
