AggieDave 6 #2 September 26, 2006 I've got a solid 4x4 truck with 33" mud tires. That crap could still prove to be a challenge. I wouldn't dream of trying it in a Toyota 4dr. I wonder if this is only a couple of miles section of the highway or how extensive and vital the highway really is. My understanding of the roads that were built by the Soviets is that they were great, huge and wide around Moscow and crappy outside of Moscow. However, they were still mostly paved, just small. Although even the Transiberian highway still has some unpaved gravel sections. If everyone bought these: http://englishrussia.com/?p=330 then it wouldn't be an issue, right? I mean it works for all the soccer moms over here in the states...--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."
lawrocket 3 #3 September 26, 2006 Interestingly, Eisenhower championed the creation of the Interstate Highway System based on his experience with a transcontinental convoy in 1919. During that convoy, he faced many of the same circumstances shown in those photos... My wife is hotter than your wife.
