What's the reason for being 'invisible' in the forums?

Recommended Posts

I have my username set up as invisible, but only because so many others do. I figure they're smarter than me and it must be better to be invisible.:S

So what's your reason for being invisible or visible?

Does it have to do with lurking?

Chris

I don't care either way. I'v noticed alot women set it to invisible. maybe to avoid unwanted PMs if someone saw they were online.

That's pretty much it... probably got too many PMs while they were online.

I could tell you, but then I'd have to kill you by choking you with my chordless keyboard.:D

I went invisible the day I wiped my profile. It seemed like they went hand and hand. Does it help? Who knows, but there have been some female posters/jumpers that were basically getting stalked online. So they have blocked PMs and went invisible.

Cuz I don't want my mother to find out how much time I spend here. She got kinda pissed off when she found all those threads I printed out; something about all those F words.

Bwaahahaha!

I think by now he's getting about old enough to jump...I wonder if he still wants to? If so, I wonder where he's going to be jumping at? It would be funny to run into him at a boogie.

I haven't met skybytch's mother, but I bet it would be safe to assume her mother is a 'she'.:P

She was referencing someone who was posting here a few years ago that was something like 12-15yrs old. He printed out some of the threads to read, hsi mom found them, read them and she posted a laughable flame about our language and topic choices. It was extremely amusing.

That whooshing sound? That's the noise things make when they go right over your head.

Yeah, I know, it's not nice to make fun of the brain injured... I never said I was nice. :D:D:D

Wasn't it something like Clintonsmom or similar? Nope, wasn't that username. Looks like a LOT of his threads and posts have been removed.

Found a "new" thread from last month, looks like he actually has AS. That explains a lot in the threads from 5 years ago. If that is the case I wonder why his mom even let him on DZ.com in the first place, instead of causing a stink?

I like to keep a tiny bit of mystery around me.

It isn't working. We always know you're online.:P

Actually, I took a good 10+ hour break during waking hours today.

Good 'ol Clint. He and Spectre230 gave me a ton of laughs for a long time.

I think one of the perks of being a "Premier" member should be access to every thread ever deleted. I know Willem's hoarding them somewhere, along with the posts made in the earliest iterations of this site.

The only reason to be invisible on here is to prevent people from seeing whether or not you are online. Lots of people lurk, but don't want others to know they are doing so. If you are posting, then you might as well be "visible" Whether your stay "invisible" or not, people can still click onto your profile and see the last time you were online.

Clinton Radloff did end up making a jump a couple of months ago. He posted about it in the Special Needs forum.

Good for him. Of course, I only showed up here after both he and Spectre230 were part of history :|
