Recommended Posts

My garage was getting crowed so I empty all the can and bottle, it turned out to be around 40 bucks anyone can beat that???
By the way can sucks they don't give you much for it, bottle rules, that's why I only drink bottled beer now.

Is this anything like "I'm an avid vegan and I eat meat?":)

One of the guys I work with recently said, in answer to the question "Rob, I didn't know you were a vegetarian?" "Well, yes I am but if you're going to throw away the rest of your steak, I'll take it home ... I'd rather recycle it than throw it away."

I recycle.
I walk to work.
I drive a small car to the dz.
I have energy-saving lights.
I very rarely use the dryer.
I turn off my computer monitors overnight and turn off the machines at the weekend.

I do about 300 jumps a year, which makes up for the rest, and then some.

For all of you that recycle (I only do aluminum), when you get a free half hour, check out the show "Penn and Teller: Bullshit!" on recycling.

http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=7734998370503499886&q=bullshit+recycling

Well, at least that show was aptly named.

I'm open to the idea that recycling has its drawbacks, but that show was a giant load a bullshit. They spent a lot of time saying that recycling is bullshit and very little time explaining why recycling is bullshit. Almost all of the "facts" they presented were, at the very best, *not* an accurate comparison of recycling and landfilling. Yes, recycling requires the use of trucks. Surprise! So does landfilling. In a word, the show is biased.

The only two valid points in the entire show were that recycling uses energy and costs money. Well holy freaking shit, there's a revelation for ya. Nobody ever said it was easy, but that doesn't make it wrong.

These guys are comedians/magicians, and the show is quite funny in a pull-shit-out-of-nowhere kind of way. But just because they're famous doesn't make them right.

If you really want to make an informed decision about the goings on in the world, there are better places to get your information than the Showtime network.

I drive an SUV and recycle too!

And I take all my beer cans and bottles and wine bottles (and milk cartons and plastic bottles and jugs and tetra paks) to the bottle depot and they give me money for them so I can buy more beer and wine and milk and bottled water and I get to drink all that stuff AND recycle all THOSE again!

My only concern is the dent I'm putting in the beer and wine reservoirs ... what do we do when they're all gone??

:D

I like you.

:P

I just thought it was funny yesterday when I came home and drove up to my driveway in my Sequoia and picked up the recycle bin that is always overflowing every week (ours takes all the cartons, plastic, etc.; they take it all!:)

Okay... I stand corrected. A trend of one...
