TKATC 0 #1 September 29, 2006 Ok....rocky road I am on here. How many divorces has the local drop zone contributed to? All I want to do is skydive and hang at the drop zone without the wife. It is my escape from the real world. I am sure you understand. Is there a statistic on this kind of thing?

BillyVance 35 #5 September 29, 2006 Quote Don't blame it on the sport! Walt Agreed. My wife and I did have our problems early on, but I was a skydiver before we even met. The key is balance, but the wife obviously has to come first. Take care of her first and she won't have a problem letting you go skydiving. Just don't expect to go every weekend. Of course, it depends on each individual... Of course, I've heard extremes like when one spouse threatened a skydiver to choose her or the sport. He replied "I'm going to miss you", and she backed down... That doesn't always work, but I would resent being faced with that choice though."Mediocre people don't like high achievers, and high achievers don't like mediocre people." - SIX TIME National Champion coach Nick Saban

Now it will get cold and I will jump alot less and not have anyone to keep me warm. Ahh well...you only live once. Get busy living, or get busy dying. Conundrum 1 #11 September 29, 2006 Sounds like you and your wife have issues and skydiving happens to be the excuse you found to get away. Skydving won't be the cause of divorce, you two will.

It seemed to me (short-timer that I am) that skydiving and monogamy rarely mix. But I think the others are right, it's already falling apart and hanging out at the DZ is sort of like hanging out at the bar with buddies instead of going home to a nag fest. The reason is-----> He takes me with him! We enjoy each other and doing things together! Why would you marry someone that you don't want to be with? And if you want to be with them----> take them with you where ever you go. Seems pretty simple to me. Don't use skydivng as an excuse to to fix mistakes, like marrying the wrong person.
