HeatherB 0 #1 September 29, 2006 I hardly ever post about this kind of stuff, but I'm excited! They just announced a Ben Folds show here in town so I bought a pre-sale ticket. If anyone in Houston wants to see him down there, give me a shout. I have a ticket to get rid of...it turns out I won't be able to make it. He'll be playing with the Houston Symphony. Now that I have a ticket for the local show I'm not sad though. I'm a big fan but haven't been able to catch him yet. There must be a few other fans here. I do miss "Five" but I'll take him solo too! mrGuy 0 #2 September 29, 2006 He's still around?? Whats he singing about now? I thought after he got married and had a kid he stopped writing "angst" kind of stuff and got sucky.
HeatherB 0 #3 October 2, 2006 Yep, he's still around. He's had a few albums and EPs out since BFF broke up. Rockin' the Suburbs, Songs for Silverman... I think the new albums are a pretty good mix of "angst" as you say, and the more wistful stuff. It's very much "white boy" music and he pokes fun at that fact, but I love it just the same. I'd listen to him play anything on the piano. His piano is better than his voice but I still find him charming. Here's one of his newer songs, "Landed", I don't see any of the angrier/harder songs on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dZs40Erpy0I
mailin 0 #4 October 2, 2006 I love Ben Folds - he definitely got folkier after BFF broke up. Gracie is always a bit sentimental for me I don't live anywhere near Houston though - enjoy the show! Arianna Frances
