I had someone do that to my account several years ago. They had some sort of auto Generator running for over 24 hours that would send out "guaranteed Wall Street Profits" To random Email addresses.. All with my Email address as the return address. Since it was Random.. Most bounced to my account. I was averaging over 1 million returns an hour as well as Thousands of requests to be removed from the list. I could kill everything on the server in the inbox and less than 1 minute later it would be full again.

My ISP put a filter on the account that would kill any message coming back that had "Wall Street" in it anywhere. They got in touch with Pac Bell (Where the emails were actually generating from) and had the account that was sending them shut down. It still crippled my email account for weeks.
