Thanatos340 1 #1 October 2, 2006 OK.. I really hope this doesnt get moved to Speakers Corner (But it does probably belong there) Online Poker Gambling/Poker BAN was signed into Law on Saturday. http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20061002/bs_nm/leisure_partygaming_dc I hate people telling me what I can and cant do with MY money. PartyPoker has already announced they will be pulling out of the US market.. Not sure yet about Pokerstars but would expect them to do the same. Which of course would mean an end to our Thursday night Game that so many of us have enjoyed for so long. To really make things worse, The Coward Extreme Right Wing Republicans that pushed this through hid it in another bill to get it done.
yardhippie 0 #2 October 2, 2006 hellllooooo speakers corner. oh, and theyre not telling you what you can do with your money, they're just telling you that they want to tax it, and havent figured out how yet. mnealtx 0 #3 October 2, 2006 I think if they *had* to do it, they shouldn't have left in any exemptions...if they're gonna outlaw online poker, then they need to do the same with lotteries and horse racing... boinky 0 #4 October 2, 2006 I play on Pokerstars. Hell, I've probably never really "profited" from the site. I just go to have fun and relax. Can they tax a loser? SeaKev 0 #5 October 2, 2006 You can also thank all the local casinos, tribal and non-tribal, for keeping the phones ringing at their reps offices pushing the legislation. (Just doing my part to help the move to SC)

lawrocket 3 #17 October 2, 2006 At last, Republicans and Bush do their part to prevent outsourcing, resulting in billions of dollars remaining in the US for our children. What? Huh? Why aren't people glad that more jobs are staying in America? More money in America. Of course, I find this sort of thing to be another governmental money grab. While I recognize the damage that these sites cause, I think it's everyone's right to ruin their finances. My wife is hotter than your wife.

I'm at least sensible about how much I put in and play with. Oh well... we'll just have to go back to secret poker games in person... if you guys at the you-know-where would fucking set it up rather than wanking yourselves off and getting drunk! BillyVance 35 #22 October 3, 2006 QuoteDamn Billy!!! Tell us how you REALLY feel! I just feel the same as J.... I put in $30 and make it last 3 weeks, winning as much as $350 in that span, but also mucking out 75% or more, of the time. Now the play money games are not available due to technical difficulties and I'm not ready to plop in another $30 to play the real money games yet, at least until I know what's going to happen with this situation with congress signing that law... boinky 0 #23 October 3, 2006 I think I started with about $50 about a year ago. I've had ups and downs. I think I'm sitting around $20, but am hesitant to even use that, because, like you guys, I don't want to deposit any more money until we find out what in the hell they're going to do. I find it hard to believe that with as many poker web sites that have sprouted up on the web in the last year, and the eventual ensuing tournaments in varied cities, that the government is able to shut it all down with just a basic snap of their fingers. (there...will THAT get us moved to the SC?)Nina Are we called "DAWGs" because we stick our noses up people's butts? (there...will THAT get us moved to the SC?) I'm amazed at the amount of money that flows through Pokerstars on a daily basis... somebody's winning 6 figure amounts in some high stakes games every hour or so... You'd have to think the fucking IRS wants a cut of that and like J said, can't figure out how to get it, so fuck it, shut it down... boinky 0 #25 October 3, 2006 Oh, I understand perfectly why they're wanting to do it (greedy bastards). I'm just amazed that they are getting away with it. Right now....Texas Hold 'Em is a big money maker, in more ways than just online playing. Of course, since when did making something against the law ever stop anyone from doing it, though?
