moodyskydiver 0 #77 October 4, 2006 Are you taking something other than Xanax for your knee?Because Xanax isnt a muscle relaxant or pain killer.Its for panic attacks and anxiety disorders.So it might make you think less about your knee,but the physical issue is still there when the Xanax is gone.If you want help with swelling and pain take 3-4 ibuprofen..taken this way its about the same as the RX ibuprofen you get at the doctor's office.Take it like this for 3-4 days and you'll be good to go if its just swelling and bruising.(I know this b/c my mom is an RN and has been for 27yrs and shes given people,me included, this advice before.)I screwed up my knees jumping so I sympathize.Feel better soon. It sucks.... xanax works though. I'm betting the shot was cortizone.Had a few of those myself.Or they could have used Synvisc which is much better than cortizone b/c its not a steroid.Synvisc worked wonders for my knees but you had to have more of them than cortizone...9 in the left and 5 in the right for me over a years time. moodyskydiver 0 #85 October 4, 2006 if you want them to work quicker,stick them under your tongue..goes right to the bloodstream (ever wonder why they make heart attack patients put nitro under their tongue? thats why..quick response.)Chewing them will make it a bit faster but its still being swallowed so not as fast.I'd be careful doing either w/o asking the doc first.But if the bottle says "time released" DO NOT crush.. people have died that way.
