simplyputsi 0 #26 September 22, 2006 Quote hey, was Hal Peterson still the drafting/shop teacher then? Short fat rolly polly guy? Mr. P OMFG!!!!!! He was an odd one. I once was welding and had dipped the metal in the cooling bin. Gave it to him to shin up to see how well the beads were. He grabs it after grinding it for a bit with his bare hands and then yells at me for giving him a hot piece of metal. I was like ummmm I handed it to you with my bare hands!!! I think he just wanted to save face. Seen the south park episode with the shop teacher?? I swear they based it off of him Did you make aluminum keys back then as well??Skymama's #2 stalker -
micro 0 #27 September 22, 2006 QuoteYou were spoiled. I just wasn't old enough to get the treatment like that there. I was lucky though to be one of the very first to see the B-2 in the daylight though as dad was on that project. I was lucky enough to use the b-2 simulator as well except they had the hydraulics(sp) turned off. It was still very realistic. I dove that sucker towards the ground I had the pilot go ok ummm level it off a bit. Then I banked it pretty good as well. It was sweet!!!!! Got to love the shuttle landings. I remember it flying over our house once and I was like ummmm the runway is pretty far away they aren't gonna make it. They did though. I wish I would of gotten a picture of that. yeah, I was spoiled there... I was there when they were first building the B-2 hangar on the other side of the runway. It was such a big secret, but my dad was a cop on base and he came home and said to me, "did you figure out what that hangar is for?" I said "no" He said, "think about it... how tall is it? Not big enough to fit a plane w/ a tail, is it." DING! The lights went on... B-2. One of my GF's dad, Maj. Couch was one of the first test pilots of it, but it was always at night - of course, at least back then. We did see the SR-71 from Palmdale come through every now and again... That was cool. And the X-29 was still flying a good bit back then too. Those were the days when Desert HS would let out and bus us over to the lake bed to see the shuttle land, that was awesome. My dad usually flew security in a Huey, they'd buzz the crowd and I'd see my dad hanging out the side w/ an M-16. So cool. I was in 10th grade when the shuttle blew up. We were in English reading shakespeare. The principle offered everyone to hear live radio over the intercom. She refused, saying that King Lear was more important. We all got up, right then and there, in unison and walked out on the bitch. It was righteous. We had kids whose parents worked over at the NASA side of the base. We weren't just sittin there reading Old English nonsense. Ah the memories... I miss Lee. And JP. And Chris. And...

He had this really bad comb forward... not a comb over, just a comb forward... and bad dandruff... and his lower lip would stick out and he'd suck it in and get it wet and slobery... god we couldn't stand that guy. I had him for two drafting classes. Remember how the drafting class was right next to the shop? I swiped his key ring one day to use the bathroom in the shop, then proceeded to grind down every last one of his keys on one of the grinders in the shop, Just enough so they wouldn't engage the tumblers in the locks. He was so f*ckin angry! He didn't figure it out for a while, then he put it together that it was probably me but by that time a few days had gone buy and he couldn't really do anything about it. I was pretty evil back then. I feel bad now for how rotten we treated him, but god he was a stooge. I miss Lee. And JP. And Chris. And...

Did he never have hair that is wayyyyy funny. I think he had alot of kids do stuff to him, pranks and such. He had sons that were around my age if I remember and they were goons as well. Drafting was also woodshop classroom when I was there. I seem to remember doing something devious in one of those classes but apparently my age is getting to me I wonder which english teacher you had that was a bitch!! I can think of one or two that would have done that. Teachers stayed at that school for along time because they knew it was a good place to be.Skymama's #2 stalker -

I've tried to find him, see where he is now, but even the deserths alum page doesn't say anything. I forget the english teacher's name... I wanna say Ms. Bateman, but I get confused if that was the HS I graduated from or if it was Desert. She was a bit tall and VERY thin. No boobs at all. I learned computers there from Mr. Mowe, who had parkinsons I think, and googly eyes. French was Mr. Ahrete or something like that. It was in a portable over by the cafeteria. Mr. Stiles for fresham science, he was awful. I forget the lady I had biology and adv. bio from, oh yeah.. Debbie Lewis. Strict but good. And the chemistry dude who was missing a finger, mouth was crooked, like he'd had a stroke. Was the Samoan PE coach still there when you were there? Surfer dude, curly hair? I miss Lee. And JP. I think lewis might have been the one that was doin the principal when I was there. They didn't hide it too well. Samoan was Mr. Williams wasn't it??? He was still there, think he still is. Mr. Human there when you were? What about the really tall math teacher Paul something I believe?Skymama's #2 stalker -

simplyputsi 0 #33 September 22, 2006 no no you are right, prentice was doing the principal. Could have swore it was williams as the coach. I'll have to go look in the year book now. oh oh and I had arhets for spanish I and II same building. We used to give him such a hard time. It was last period of the day for me so I was at my most unattentive. He actually got to move from that building I believe.Skymama's #2 stalker -

freeflir29 0 #38 September 22, 2006 QuoteI always thought that F-16s were single seat fighters and the F-14s & F-15s had the dual seats. Maybe the later revisions of the F-16 had dual seats? Yep...........the initial versions were all single seat. Not sure exactly when they came out but they made a "Deep Attack" version called the "Block 40" which was dual seat and had LOTS more stuff. IE targetting and nav equipment equivelent to what the F-15E has. I know I worked with some in Korea. I think they were from the "Wolf Pack" down on the West coast of Korea in Kunsan I think it was. JT was stationed there. There was also the "Mighty Ducks" squadron from South Carolina. Not sure where else they might have been stationed.

downwardspiral 0 #40 September 22, 2006 midair collision between the tomcat and harrier or just coincidence that two seperate aircraft that had nothing to do with each other had problems at damn near precisely the same moment? wingnut 0 #41 October 5, 2006 from clay: QuoteA 2 seater is a "Block 40" deep attack aircraft. Many millions more dollars of electronics in that one than a regular single seat nope clay a 2 seat f-16 is just a diffrent model designation (b or d) not block. the avionics are the same..... alan, a flameout (stall) would possibly cause them to eject, pretty much anything that renders the plane non landable on the runway is going to have a pilot ejecting from a f-16.... my guess is it might of been an ingestion of a bird into the engine. only way that a pilot probly wouldn't eject right away was if they needed to try and fly the plane away from a populated area...... even withought the engine running the emergancy power unit will provide electric and hydraulic power for 5-10 minutes....... just no thrust.... was a f-16 crew chief for 6 years in the u.s. air force.. on block 40 and block 52 s ...... craftman (7lvl) skilllevel. and have had one 1.5 hour flight....... very fun, but i would of rather had the money that it cost to buy 1,500 gallons of jp-8 to go make some skydives with..... ______________________________________ "i have no reader's digest version"
