Skolls081102 0 #1 October 8, 2006 Ok, so I finally bowed down and bought an IPOD (30GB Video/Music). I only have 1207 songs at 7.19GB- which leaves alot of empty space. So I decided to throw a few video files onto it. My problem is, I have 4 UFC videos that it states are not supported and cannot be played (even though they loaded into Itunes). I also tried to put Jeb's "A Year in the Life" onto ITunes, but when I try it says "The file cannot be imported because it does not appear to be a valid exported file." I'mnot computer illiterate, but I am stumped on this one. Anyone have any ideas? And what files will be supported by the IPOD? Thanks for the help. 'Shell Hey 'Shell, Thanks for the vote of confidence....but video conversion to the formats supported by iTunes is something I haven't got a lot of experience with. Here's a support document for the basics of uploading and syncing video...so first make sure the basic stuff is in order. The supported formats for iPod use are as folows: (Note that the document I copied this from lists other video formats that will work with iTunes...possibly why the one video imports into iTunes but won't transfer to your iPod): H.264 File formats: .m4v, .mp4, and .mov Video: Up to 768 kbits/sec, 320 x 240, 30 frames per second (fps), Baseline Profile up to Level 1.3. Audio: AAC-LC up to 160 kbits/sec, 48 Khz, and stereo audio. MPEG-4 File formats: .m4v, .mp4, and .mov Video: Up to 2.5 Mbits/sec, 480 x 480, 30 fps, Simple Profile. Audio: AAC-LC up to 160 kbits/sec, 48 Khz, stereo audio. If you are on Windows I don't know what you could use to do conversions...perhaps the program suggested above is exactly what you need. I copied th above from this AFQ on the Apple support site Good luck! I'm out of town at my in-laws so won't have normal net access but will try to help you out as best I can.-- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey

DeepThought 0 #6 October 8, 2006 There is a utility called SUPER (Simplified Universal Player Encoder & Renderer) which can be downloaded for free from http://www.erightsoft.com/SUPER.html This will convert most video formats into another. It is far from perfect, but it dose come in very useful at times. -------------------------------------------------- You only have one life, make the most of it.
