Present.

Recommended Posts

Have just bought a couple of bottles of whiskey.
One of them is going to be a thank you gift.

Just not sure what one should be the gift.

I have a bottle of johnnie walker blue label and a bottle of Balvenie 21 PortWood.

Are there any Scotch whiskey drinkers here that can help me decide on what would be the better gift?

The recipient is a man that runs the financial side of one of the biggest banks in the UK and has the finest of fine things in life. I want to give this present as a thank you for his offer of a house to stay in.

Thanks.

Chivas Regal

You're crazy.

If you're giving a present to a well-to-do guy, which would you choose. Chivas (~GPB 25)? Johnnie Walker Blue (~GPB 160)? Or the Balvenie Port Wood 21 (~GPB 60)?

For me, the Chivas brand is pretty cheap. Johnnie Walker Blue is for when you want to make a statement, but it's a bit obvious. I don't know anything about the taste of the Balvenie, but good whisky always makes a good gift.

Personally, I'd probably give the Balvenie, just because it's a little different.

unless you know his taste for Scotch this is a tough one

the JW Blue is a blend, Balvenie a single malt

i'd give the Balvenie, rich flavor and shows some thought, anybody can pick up a JW Blue

That is along the lines i am thinking. Balvenie is a great whiskey that a whiskey drinker would love as a gift while JW blue is a bottle that if you dont drink whiskey you would love to have this in your personal bar to offer to guests.

I know anybody can pick up a bottle of whiskey but how often does one ever own a bottle of JW blue label.

Though, if he does drink single malt i dont think there is much better than the Balvenie 21 portwood.

Maybe i just give him both??? One on arrival and one on departure?

I am not trying to make a statement, just trying to show how much i appreciate his offer and that i can return him something nice even if the novelty of his bottle wears off after a few minutes of receiving it.

I really like single malts, and a have a pretty good collection.

I would love a gift of JW blue. It is the best known high end blended scotch whisky and it would be fun to compare it side-by-side to my favorite distillery releases.

Just my $0.02

Thanks.

I am going to give him the JW Blue, it is wrapped in silk inside the box and every bottle has a serial number. A shot of JW Blue over here in the UK is $40 US a single (35mls) so think a bottle of this would be appreciated in anybodys bar, especially for these people that seem to entertain all the time.

Thank you for the input, nw as soon as morning tea comes around i can crack open this other bottleB|
