boinky 0 #1 October 9, 2006 I just bought myself a new playtoy! It's a sewing machine that does basic sewing and embroidery! It has a system where I can digitize pictures or pull things from the internet and embroider those too! I see lots of cool skydiving stuff in my future! DJL 235 #4 October 9, 2006 Sweet, I wonder if it would cost less to send you an emblem to put on my rig than it would cost to send it to the mfr."I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher
boinky 0 #5 October 9, 2006 I'm refusing to take it out of the box for 1 more week, until I finish organizing the room it's going in. But after I get it out, let me get used to what it can do and we'll see what I can do to help you out! It's pretty lightweight and it hooks up to a laptop, so I can actually bring it out to the dz with me. Nina Are we called "DAWGs" because we stick our noses up people's butts? boinky 0 #6 October 9, 2006 It's called a Singer CE-200. It's VERY important that you get THAT one and the newer version of it. The CE-100 isn't as cool and the first batch of the CE-200 had some issues. If I told you how much it cost...I'd have to kill you! But we'll say that it costs less than most of our gear. And A LOT less than most embroidery machines, which most that would do basically the same thing started around $2499 and went upwards of $20,000. Plus the place I bought it from told me that if I outgrow this one...they let me trade in/up for a fancier one! Oh...and I'm buying a "Happy Bunny" disc. I'll be able to make cool shirts and stuff. I'm just a little excited! Can you tell? Nina Are we called "DAWGs" because we stick our noses up people's butts? boinky 0 #8 October 9, 2006 You have to be really careful who sews on your rig. In the past, I was training to be a rigger. The FAA is [B]VERY specific who can do things to a harness/rig. Most times...it has to be a Master Rigger. I'd check with some riggers and find out first. If they say it's cool...we'll see! Nina Are we called "DAWGs" because we stick our noses up people's butts? boinky 0 #18 October 9, 2006 Yup....I bought mine from that company. I did all my research on line. Then went in their local store and asked all the pertinent questions. They were patient and even brought one of the machines and took plenty of time showing me how it works. It was definitely not the most expensive item in the store, but they acted like my money was as good as someone who was about to spend $5000. I've sent her their local phone number. Their customer service is GREAT!! Nina Are we called "DAWGs" because we stick our noses up people's butts? billvon 3,120 #19 October 9, 2006 >You have to be really careful who sews on your rig. . . .The FAA is >VERY specific who can do things to a harness/rig. Well: a) don't tell em b) no rigger is going to tell you "yes I approve of your modification of your rig, whatever it is you're doing" c) that machine is likely going to be unable to work with webbing to begin with, and disassembly of mudflaps/container sides isn't something a non-rigger is likely going to be able to deal with anyway.
boinky 0 #20 October 9, 2006 You're raining on our parade! At least I TRIED to do the right thing and send him to his rigger first! And we don't know if it's the webbing he wants something done to. I'm betting it's a mud flap. And not too long ago...I was a "rigger in training" and was able to work with webbing, BOC's, etc. Not saying I'm GOING to do the work, but saying I might be capable! Jethers203 0 #21 October 9, 2006 Nina My Favorite Manifest Chick, After you get it setup, maybe you could sew a rip in my slider. The hole where the cord that collapses the slider is ripping and the tab on the cord gets stuck in the slider because of it. Kind of a pain in the ass. Anyway, I figure I have a better chance of you doing it once you get set up than I do asking Chris. Take it easy. Clint
